Every new car in the U.S. will be required by law to have tech that puts constant surveillance on the driver by 2027. AI in your car will determine if you're sober and fit to drive, automatically turning off the vehicle if it determines you're a danger on the road.

You could imagine biometric ~proof of age, at the very least
I’d imagine it is not a hard ML task to do “look left, look right, left again, blink, chin up” -> verify that a live person is there + then run an age prediction model and if it says p(>=18) >= 99% or something then throw out the data and let them register

Pretty obvious point in hindsight I failed to see: you literally don’t get access by proving your age is above some threshold (not that that would necessarily be good or fine, but still)

Mind you it’s not age gating, it’s IDENTITY GATING. There is no such thing as “age verification” it’s ID verification. I think we need to stop using the term age verification bc it’s an industry term that obfuscates the reality of what’s happening.

This is stunning: the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, VA, the most notorious of all the extremist displays of the last ten years, tiki torches and all, was actually a subsidized racket funded by the supposedly anti-hate SPLC. Alternatively, perhaps it was tested on creatures the copyeditor thinks don't count as "animals," such as ferrets or humans.

I only come across short tweets commanding people not to commit violence, or trying to use pathos to make violent people seem low-status, or so forth.

Literally everyone (afaict) except for the one attacker in the AI safety space: “nonviolence is overdetermined, at least until we have nation states and a majority of the international community on board; even at a purely pragmatic level it would not help our cause”

well at that point no one can speak against plausibly bad things
