@vikare06 Jack Fisk told me when he'd work with Malick you'd walk on a set, and it ended up looking exactly the same on film. There's plenty of scenes in The Thin Red Line with no bounces or added light though. Nolan and Hoyte use all the tools when they need them as well.

This shot is not only beautiful, but it's a testament to the talent of production designer Jack Fisk, who put this together on the last day of shooting after they ran out of money. It’s my favorite shot in the film.

The way OPPENHEIMER utilized IMAX for intimate moments like this is a big reason why the film felt so otherworldly and big, even when it was just a shot of Cillian Murphy staring at a painting.

Yesterday marked the 30th anniversary of the Twister motion picture release. I was the original technical consultant for the film and supplied the tornado image used for the poster and marketing. I put the money I made from the rights sale away, and ironically, 30 years later I’m finally using those funds to help pay for my PhD in documentary photography.
