Many people see Waymo and think they’re ahead of everyone in the autonomous driving race. After all, they’re giving out over 100,000 paid robotaxi rides a week across cities like San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles with a fleet of 700 vehicles, and on the surface, it could seem like they’re dominating. However, each Waymo costs $100,000 due to the complex, expensive hardware that’s in use. And due to this, they’re losing money on every single ride. For Waymo, scaling this business up means higher costs, and I don’t think it’s a sustainable model, even if the company keeps pouring $ into it. Now, look at Tesla. With a fleet closing in on 7 million vehicles worldwide, Tesla is playing a different game. Instead of relying on bulky, expensive hardware, Tesla uses a much simpler, more cost-effective approach, just 8 or 9 cameras and a powerful AI neural net. This AI, constantly learning from millions of real-world miles, means Tesla’s software gets smarter every day and can be scaled across the globe without needing new hardware for every car. So, while Waymo might seem like it’s leading the charge today, in my eyes, Tesla is quietly preparing to take over the entire field. They’ve created the foundation for something far bigger and is why I believe the true leader in Robotaxis will be Tesla, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it unfold on 10/10!

The phalanx was beaten in the east long before the romans in 214BC. The Seleucid-Mauryan war from 305-303 BC saw the first comprehensive defeat of the phalanx + Gedrosia (modern Balochistan) and Arachosia (southern Afghanistan) had to be ceded in their entirety to the Mauryans

A few obvious points, but worth pointing out: Apple knows what the median household income is. Apple has a long history of selling high priced consumer electronics successfully. Apple now has the most powerful VR headset in the world. Apple makes deliberate long term focused decisions. Oculus is now second place, not as good. Cheaper, sure - there’s always cheaper alternatives to Apple.
