@Fisher_DanaR@joost_de_moor@ExtinctionR@xr_dc_@ScientistRebel1@ExtinctionRebel For me, the soup throwing is an example of highly effective action which wasn’t disruptive to the public, because it got a lot of press, was new, and exciting, and also efficient in terms of activists energies
Lots of the most engaged activists now have growing conviction sheets
@Patrick72843362@Independent Just Stop Oil attracts people who are highly committed and willing to sacrifice a great deal. I imagine a lot of people reading this will understand the issues and want to be active on the climate crisis, but can’t participate in JSO’s methods. What is your ask for those people?
@RobertShippey The way I’d see it would be as fodder for clips that then play to the existing base.. and sometime break through into wider cultural awareness. For instance think of the “concrete doesn’t grow on trees” incident
@PhilosophyTube For me I’d take the 2.0. Easily
Tipping points are so unknown and interconnected… I think responsibility is woven into our whole existence, and blame systems above individual responsibility.
What accountability could possibly balance ongoing future harms?
@RobertShippey I’d treat any quiz with a pinch of salt, but as a topic I’d definitely worth thinking about/unpacking a bit.
Keep in minds attachment styles are descriptive (I.e. a category that has been invented).. and that different people may draw out certain aspects more than others
Since it is International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a reminder that prioritizing accessibility has benefits to *a lot* of people, not just people with permanent disabilities
I’ve returned from my trip to Amsterdam! It was lovely.
As a wheelchair user, I found it much more challenging than I had anticipated.
My thoughts on transport and street accessibility…🧵
I need a game that doesn't depend on hand motion or have too much visual motion. I like Dicey Dungeons (but not the random) and Slay/Spire (but can't grind, and can't play the "long game" because it cuts at 3.5 bosses). Recs? Nethack is best game but not on treadmill (and YASD)
@StepBD@JolyonMaugham@GoodLawProject Nobody should be, but many protest groups will obviously film themselves. That means that those filming might also be part of the protest.
If they can't produce credentials then I can understand them being searched on site to ensure they aren't also protesters. Arrested? Never.
