@TheMuppetPastor Marketing and capitalism, perhaps?? Why would anyone follow some unknown carpenter? Has any good thing ever come out of Nazareth? 😋

Yall can be saints that sounds very scary I’m staying in the lane of childlike wonder and getting excited about plants and babies and snowy mountains. I don’t need to be that clever.

I can trust God implicitly without declaring myself a saint. It’s not denigrating myself. It’s not woe as me. There is much comfort in being God’s most retarded soldier instead of his most pious self declared saint.
Jeremy Legg@jdleggcan

@luinalaska Yes, we need saving. But we've been saved! The reason we are called saints is b/c we're new creations in Christ Jesus! Seated with Christ in heavenly places. We spend too much time dragging this "worst of sinners" identity around. In Christ, the old has gone, the new has come.

@1BethDutton Lemon balm would have a definite square stem, marking it as a member of the mint family and the leaves are thicker and a wee bit fuzzy.

Is this a weed? Grok says it's a lemon balm but the leaves do not smell like lemon.

Someone really needs to take Dale's phone away before a righteous woman walks up to him and knocks him silly. One thing is for sure, I know a LOT of women who think FAR more clearly than this "which way is the wind blowing today" wannabe.

@luinalaska The act of canonizing a saint is still not what makes them holy? I'm pretty sure the Catholic church is making an official recognition of someone having, "practiced heroic virtue?"

@insanitybytes22 Yes the Church canonizes saints. It’s not just up to us. It’s not a vote we all make to say someone was really really good.

@luinalaska Even in the Catholic faith, canonization does not "make" a person a saint, right?

@insanitybytes22 That doesn’t have anything to do with how we speak of ourselves in conversation with others in a faith that canonizes actual saints.

@luinalaska Well, in multiple places in the Bible we are called saints. The Apostle Paul often refers to ordinary followers of Christ in this manner. The Apostle's Creed is drawn from this Biblical example and refers to the church as the communion of the saints.

@luinalaska Well, "saint" simply means a "holy one" or "set apart." All of us who follow Christ and/or have done things like been baptized, have set ourselves apart as His holy ones. Saint does not mean "sin free."

@insanitybytes22 NOOOOO we don’t get to pick ourselves being a saint even if we sin once in 100 years!!! Never!!!!

Yes if they’re actually saints!!!!! But ourselves?!?!? ARE YALL DOING THIS?!
insanitybytes22!@insanitybytes22

@luinalaska LOL! Catholics are allowed to call random men and women saints, both theologically and in everyday conversation. I only know this on account of the Great Twitter War of the Saints of '24.

@luinalaska LOL, I hear you, but maybe if we all embraced the fact that we are actually saints, we would try harder to live up to that role and expectation?

In the span of 8 months back in 2020, a guy who died in a motorcycle accident had his official cause of death listed as Covid, the flu decided to take the year off, and Joe Biden got more votes from the black community than Barack Obama. So yeah, I'm still kind of pissed off.

Most of these men have been completely disqualified from ministry by every biblical standard. I will absolutely take crap for saying so. I just feel like we are living in the twilight zone. Where is any semblance of accountability??? Must it always come from outside the church?

@MrsCMFrancis Oh yes, there are a ton of, "selfish men who are going to be awful" out in the secular world who have no real Christian influences that we can blame it on.

This may well be true - though I’ve never encountered it - but awful, selfish men are gonna be awful and selfish regardless of the religion they are raised in. That’s not an excuse for those raised in Evangelical circles, but this isn’t some unique feature of Christianity.
emily may@emilykmay

excellent piece on the culture surrounding marriage in the evangelical sphere. they will say in gender neutral terms "don't expect so much from your spouse" --but they are talking to women.

Happy Anniversary, Brent and Jennica♥️! Dad and I can't believe it's been 18 years! The time has flown by. So proud of you both and grateful that I can be with my grandsons tonight while you celebrate. Your marriage has honored God and exemplified Ephesians 5:33: "However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband." @DataRepublican @wasatchdotco
