@usbrandon @TechSmith Unfortunately, I'm having the same issue (and it also happened a couple weeks ago). I'm a big @Snagit fan, but this is something that needs to be fixed in a way that your local install doesn't just stop working if it can't phone home to validate.

@TechSmith please hire a site reliability engineer around your serial number validation servers. Not fun to have my products turn off when your servers go down. :) OR let the products live a day or two after a failed attempt.

@patrickstolc This is a real skill, and one that trips a lot of people up.

@lepaulb I think you need more information. Why aren't they willing to pay? What pain point does it not solve well enough to be worth 10¢ a day? What has your feedback been?

I emailed the (small) base of users of ledigest.email and ask one question. If ledigest.email wasn't free anymore, would you pay $3/month ($36/year) to keep receiving it? Only 2% said yes. Do you keep building or move on to the next idea? #buildinpublic

@JAdamUllrich Over the long-term, it goes up. Everything else is just noise.

The first index fund was created in 1972. John Bogle of Vanguard created His first index fund in 1975. The goal is to achieve average returns over time. Most thought: Who wants average returns? Then the market began to speak. The fund made $17 million in the first 5 Years.

@maxwellcdavis I answered yes -- but really, everyone has a different definition of "video." A talking head reading PowerPoint slides? A screencast showing someone exactly how to accomplish something? They're both video, but their value is much different.
