Management company now charging me an extra $2.49 to pay my rent online via e-check. Tiny amount of $ but should absolutely be illegal. Tenants should not be paying these fees. I'll be mailing checks in the future.

Except Trump is a moderate, and people were sick of Democratic overreach. Tucker is not a moderate---especially not recently. He feels erratic and isolationist. Tucker lost the "innovative outsider" vibe and now feels like he's been Candace Owen'd. There is a certain portion of the far right that believes they won the election alone. They did not. There was a coalition. As a suburban mom, I'd definitely weigh a more moderate candidate--even if it was a Democrat (although I would also fear that we'd get a bait and switch candidate like Spanberger.) I think there is going to be a Trump exhaustion factor for 2028, and people are going to be looking for a boring, calm technocrat who can figure out how Medicaid and Social Security are going to move forward.

Living through Tucker mania. I can’t open this site without seeing discussion of him. You know when I last was like this? When Trump walked down the escalator and all of the smart people said Trump was insane, had no chance, voters hated him. Spirit of 2015.

I have known Tucker for 30+ years, and at 2 networks and as an aside, all the make up artists and crews have always said to me that he was the nicest of all anchors/hosts to them …just a behind the scenes on @TuckerCarlson

Tucker is my friend for 30 years. We disagree often. I don't care. After my cancer treatments, deaf and sick and gutted, I was sure I was dying in 2021. We had moved to Florida and Tucker made time to join me for dinner. That was the first time I heard him say it, in that noisy island bar. “People around Trump keep getting hurt, Caputo. Really hurt.” He wasn’t talking about the President; he was talking about me. Yeah, I got the cancer. This NYT interview is really intense stuff for me to watch now. Man.

This H-1B worker has lived in the US for nearly 20 years and built a family here. His mom was dying in India. To visit her, he would need to wait months to book a consular appointment--with the soonest one available likely being scheduled one year out.
He made the difficult choice of not visiting his dying mom because leaving without an appointment would mean separation from his children, job, and his other obligations.
Much of the commentary around immigration focuses on how such bureaucratic burdens undermine immigrants’ ability to contribute and innovate. But we must remember that this red tape also prevents these people from being fully engaged with their own lives and meaningfully present in the lives of others. This matters too, and these seemingly non-economic problems will eventually translate into economic costs.
If America is no longer a place where people feel empowered to be the best versions of themselves as they celebrate, struggle, and grieve, it ceases not just being the land of opportunity, but also the land of dignity and purpose.

Tonight at 3am, Spirit turns off the lights. 14,000 jobs gone. 30+ smaller airports lose service. JetBlue offered $3.8 BILLION in cash to buy Spirit in 2022. Shareholders, flight attendants union, literally everyone voted yes. The combined company would have held 9% of the US market against a Big 4 that already owned 80%. For anyone who understands numbers: 9% isn’t a monopoly against 80%. Warren said no. She wrote letters. She pressured Buttigieg. Biden’s DOJ sued. A federal judge killed the deal in January 2024. Her argument: the merger would cost consumers $1 billion a year. Now look at her collateral damage she dusts under the rug. 510 pilots gone in the months after. 1,800 flight attendants furloughed in December. 14,000 jobs in 2023. 7,500 last week. Zero tonight. And that’s just the people in Spirit uniforms. Catering goes. Fuel guys go. Baggage crews, gate agents, airport coffee shops, hotels and rental cars in 70 cities Spirit flew to. Every airline job carries 3 more on its back. 40,000 people out of work because of one woman’s moronic crusade against the market. And the math ain’t mathing. Spirit abandoned 90 routes during the death spiral. Fares on those routes are up 14% on average. Oakland to Newark: $135 to $288. Fort Myers to San Juan: $92 to $219. Kansas City to Newark up 66%. That’s reality. Not some BS number from a “study.” So @SenWarren tell me how this saves the consumer money? Cheap carriers in a market drop fares 21% across the board. Southwest did this in the 90s and saved Americans $68 BILLION over 20 years. Warren killed it. That’s what moronic politicians led by socialism do. Then with her own blind arrogance, she tweeted Spirit’s collapse is “a Biden win for flyers.” A win. 14,000 people are reading termination letters tonight. And she’s taking credit. Let's put it to the proof. Let's pay teachers the MOST--except maybe the principal of a school and the top 10 people in charge of the district. Let's make sure there is no incentive for a teacher to get out of teaching into administration. Let's make it pay cut to do so. And, a principal needs be given a bucket of money to run the school and put their teachers on a merit pay schedule. The principal must then be held accountable to meeting metrics for the school. And school choice is imperative. Charter schools rock. I'm willing to listen on vouchers--although I do believe all families deserve vouchers to exit a failing school.

Facts: North Carolina spends less on central office staff and school building administration as a percent of its budget today than it has in 20 years.

Given the news today that Spirit Airlines is shuttering and thousands of people are losing their jobs, I think we should honestly assess whether the Garland DoJ stopping the JetBlue merger with Spirit Airlines was the right call. Perhaps it was but any analysis must consider as part of the equation the loss to so many families ro decide.
