@PaulTassi Is the raid almost finished? That's what the community should be pushing for, not d3. One more DLC with just the raid please.

Someone suggested I track a lot of open questions about Destiny 2 end-of-service, and I figured I'd crowdsource for an article or video. So far have things like: - What happens to artifact rotation? - What happens with resetting transmog bounties? - What happens with balance patches? etc. Post below

@PaulTassi @MacticsG1 We were supposed to get a whole new row of perks with shadow and order. Usually we get a preview too, can you find out if we still getting those?

My #1 request for the final update of destiny is to put the artifact mods on an automated rotation that cycles through all old artifacts. Doing this would naturally refresh the meta and keep the game feeling a little more alive for those who decide to stick around a while.

I don’t know how much work is left on Shattered Cycle, I don’t know how long it might have gotten delayed before this, but yes fundamentally setting this up with a “one last expansion” would have been less nauseating than how this is currently playing out
Benjamin@BRGSHQ

@PaulTassi Any idea why they don’t just release shattered cycle since it likely doesn’t have long left in development?

@NuCaloric Equilibrium was sick. The mechanics of the final boss fight are awesome, changing the boss dps time and threshold with your choices worked really well

@pcgamer We do. 100% but NOT by @Bungie. Their DEI woke BS is what killed destiny in the first place.

@S3Plan @thiccdotexe Facts. But OP is a troll that thinks the current bungie is woke and gay. Not someone who genuinely thinks OG bungie devs were better at any of that stuff

@thiccdotexe The raid and dungeon team is the best squad there has ever been. Destiny art direction and music is always on point. Gunplay is in the upper echelon of all FPS games on the market. Destiny has problems, but it has a lot of talented people building it.

Rock, I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this because, frankly, it should've been your parents. While I'm certain they were just trying to protect you: it's not nice that they kept something like this hidden and allowed you to go through life unsure as to why you're "different" from the others. It needs to be said, Rock: You're retarded. With that out of the way, I feel compelled to inform you that it is possible to both 1. be critical of dodgy practices which plague video games, like power creep... and 2. be critical of dodgy practices which plague video games, like DEI. Anyways, don't worry because I plan to actually explain my position using argumentation, rather than just insulting you and trying to discredit what you're saying by undermining it. ← That's your wheelhouse. We prefer to say things that are backed by reason and logic. While I'm confident that you'll fittingly attempt to write this off as "too many words" or "me caring too much", I'm sorry but I feel it's important to support my arguments: DEI is a backwards, regressive practice that is tangibly hurting the gaming industry. It is also flagrantly racist: blindly assuming advantages and disadvantages on the basis of nothing more than a person's race, which is definitionally racial prejudice btw (racism)... but I digress. The problem with DEI is that it's antithetical to merit. Meritocracy and equity cannot exist simultaneously. Equity, in practice, is literally providing incentives for diversity, while providing disincentives for a lack of it. This all but forces employers to artificially inflate the number of "diverse" people working under them to meet unwritten quotas. As a result, the gaming industry is "cutting corners" and loosening their hiring standards in order to achieve these incentives. As a result, you're getting people who wouldn't know what a "good video game" looked like if it landed on their foreheads designing your products: people who are underqualified, out of touch, and simply not as skilled as the other guys. In the days of equality, we were strictly getting the absolute most qualified person for the job, *regardless* of traits like race/gender/sexual orientation. This is why video games were so fucking good and why the preferences of consumers were always the top priority of companies: the people working in the industry were gamers themselves and they knew what worked, and what mattered. Instead, we now have underqualified developers, not to mention time, budget and resources being spent on shit that frankly just doesn't fucking matter to the average player. Nobody gives three quarters of a fuck if a studio is "diverse" or not, so the fact that millions of dollars are being spent on this instead of the games themselves is fucking retarded. Nobody gives a fuck if a medium that is literally about fun and escapism is "inclusive," so the fact that millions of dollars are being spent on this is fucking retarded. Meanwhile, "sensitivity and inclusivity consultants" are now being hired who literally exist to scrutinize/politicize games... and their function is to suggest changes to things that could be deemed "offensive" or politically incorrect. As a result, you're getting games that are more watered down, sanitized, and soulless. This muddies the waters and makes fiction worse for literally everyone, even if some of you are too stupid to realize it. While no system is perfect, equality was the closest thing we ever had to a perfect system... and then "equity" (the E in DEI) came in like a freight train and took that away from us because identity obsessed progressive retards (you) were indoctrinated by political activists who desired to exploit tribalism for personal gain and votes. "but u can still have merit and diversify, that's the point of equity!" → The *point* of equity is irrelevant. What matters is what equity actually is/does, in practice. "but if 2 ppl are equally qualified, u just have 2 hire the more diverse one!" → This is also nonsense. It is incredibly rare to get two people of *identical* qualifications, experience, and intelligence. As a result, it is impossible to get perfect, 1:1 diversity in any scenario. Equity was literally designed to artificially increase diversity in the workforce, because hiring based purely on qualifications was skewing heavily in favor of *white male applicants.* That's it. That's the entire reason it exists. Progressives didn't like this and screamed "wacism," because they're retarded and don't understand things like demographics, and how/why a workplace in a country that is 68% white might have a lot more white employees than black ones... or how/why an industry that skews heavily male/is preferred by men would have more male employees than female ones. You're the tourist, Rock. We actually care about our hobbies and want to protect them from people like yourself. Sit down and shut up for once.
Math Rock@MathRockSucked

These types of takes show you who is a tourist. People will blame buzzwords like woke and DEI, but they'll never mention the portal, power creep, pvp sandboxes, old-gen support. If you get your gaming takes from SmashGPT running reddit threads through AI, re-evaluate your life.

I know other games probably have them, but what terms are Destiny specific, things you only hear a Destiny player say. “Blueberry” “Ad clear” “DPS rotation” “Jiggle peaking” “Ghost melee” “Div B*tch” Stuff like that. We need a D2 Dictionary.

@gleebion @MallowTheQueen @murekkep144 True but d2 is only at this low point because a lack of content, properly managed d2 can easily do 100k upward to 300k. Marathon might be cheaper to make but the numbers are really bad for them too and they just launched

@invalid72846 @MallowTheQueen @murekkep144 11k players on D2 is far worse, than 10k on Marathon because of how expensive each genre is to make. Destiny takes far more resources to provide the content its gluttonous players want compared to Marathon. Marathon is a safer long term bet because the maintenance cost is lower.

Reminder that a large amount of Marathon hate came from people that thought if the game failed, Bungie would be forced to invest more in Destiny. The opposite was true btw. Marathon's success would've likely given Bungie the room and resources to try to turn D2 around

@thedreadjesus @MallowTheQueen @murekkep144 If d2 made more money bungie leadership would have made better decisions? I don't see how that tracks. They probably lost money this past year but the last 10 years must have been profitable. D2 was their only game when Sony paid 3.6B, surely they were making good profits

@invalid72846 @MallowTheQueen @murekkep144 d2 was setting money on fire for the majority of its lifetime. fate saga was a bet that there were enough players to keep the lights on after TFS with a post-layoffs smaller team. there were not. no momentum, no destiny. marathon will be cheaper to maintain after more layoffs

I guess nothing brings the Destiny community together quite like the end of development. All of a sudden, everyone’s out here organizing synchronized login days and signing petitions to show support. Where was all of this when the game actually needed it?
