Very important initial measurement-based estimates of the magnitude of the #NordstreamLeaks. Much smaller than previous engineering estimates. Now it's time to investigate why such a difference exists. Reconciliation proves key for all methane mitigation efforts @CH4Observatory

@ciais_philippe @icossweden It's just using GFS (0.5 x 0.5), which turned out to work well for qualitative analysis. Indeed, the Norunda observed methane emitted around 10:00 UTC on the 26th, just 9 to 10 hours after the initial event.

Great results - spot on 👏. Which winds did you use ? If pressure in gas pipe dropped overnight from 105 to 7 bars, then the source decreased while wind turned from NE to NW. The 1st peak @icossweden Norunda should reflect a larger emission than the 2nd one at Hyltemossa station

@drdianafrancis As far as we know, still continuing but at a much lower rate. The simulation examined releases just in the first couple of days of the event, so it's not the full picture.
