@billmeltzer @LesBowen Bill, the Caps play Columbus for their final game. Both can’t win or lose, unfortunately. So, 4 and 5 are out.

Islanders were eliminated today. The Blue Jackets lost 3-2 in regulation to Boston. Magic number to eliminate Columbus is 1. Magic number to eliminate Washington is 2. Five different ways to do it: 1) Flyers win tomorrow vs. Carolina OR 2) Flyers win on Tuesday vs. Montreal OR 3) Flyers get two OT/SO losses OR 4) One regulation, one shootout loss but Caps and Columbus lose their final game by any means OR 5) Flyers lose both in regulation but Washington loses its final game in regulation and Columbus loses its final game by any means. Obviously No. 1 is preferable. Get it over with.

@Nick_Rapsag @Lowes 💯! Fortunately, there is a new one coming to Village Parkway in Port Saint Lucie, FL! Any idea when the Grand Opening will be? It will shave 20 minutes off each way.

@WEIV9821 @charlieo_conn @PHLY_Flyers No, because the 3 is only for Columbus. It’s 2 for Washington and the Islanders. Go Boston, Pittsburgh, and Montreal! If those 3 win in regulation, then it’s only 1 point needed for the Flyers.

Flyers blow out the Jets 7-1. Their magic number is now 3 points -- even with no help, if they go 1-0-1 the rest of the way, they'll make the playoffs. They play Carolina and Montreal to close out the season on Monday and Tuesday at home.

Jeff Bezos has $222 billion. If he paid my wealth tax this year, we could fund insulin in America for everyone who needs it plus free school lunch for every kid in Texas—and have plenty of money left over. And Bezos would still have $215 billion dollars to spare.

This is the biggest freak athlete in this year’s NFL draft. I’d never heard of him till two days ago. He’s from a small village in Nigeria. He is 6-4 1/2, 306 lbs and jumps 10-10. Some folks in the NFL think he’ll go on Day 3 of the draft. Free story: nytimes.com/athletic/71683…

Bless this cankered platform. It’s the only place left in the world where you can still find people who will respond with “Wait, you think Trump isn’t wonderful?! You say he’s an idiot and a laughingstock??!! This is the first I’m hearing of this. Surely it cannot be true!!!”

You have to be a special kind of stupid if you don't understand that the king in England does not rule and is essentially a figurehead who shakes hands at PR events to make the country look good. Well, he would if he had a shred of charm or likeability anyway.

I agree w a lot of what Shane is saying. Mannion’s hire sent a message to everyone inside the org. Offense needs to grow. And it can’t be an inside hire cause it wasn’t working. Everyone needs to adapt and get on board.
Shane Haff@ShaneHaffNFL

Here is what I'll say about the Jalen Hurts article. He has had 2 competent offensive coordinators in his career. Both left for head coaching positions after Super Bowl seasons. He has also had 2 incompetent offensive coordinators in his career. Both were first-time NFL playcallers, both went 1 and done, and neither is even a position coach now. Hurts has limitations. He has preferences. Every QB does. A good OC works with his QB and meets in the middle to find what works for everyone. Two guys did that. Two guys didn't. The results speak for themselves. If you want to use those preferences to argue that the son of a coach, who also played for Nick Saban, isn't coachable, that's where you lose me. The article even acknowledges that both Moore and Steichen came in with a plan about how the offense would function, while lines were more blurred with Johnson and Patullo. I fully expect Mannion to come in with a plan as well and push back on Hurts' preferences when necessary. He doesn't have the clout of being a longtime coach or an experienced playcaller, which does make it a bit of a dice roll. But Hurts has a relentless work ethic, and after the way last season ended, I'd expect him to be more open to change, especially if it is coming from someone competent.

@KevinNegandhi Hidden in plain sight is the ONLY change so far to the offense is the coaching staff. Howie knows what we all saw in 25 was accurate. He forced those changes.

99.9% of people who "experienced" the Challenger disaster saw it on replay and now remember it as live. Almost NO ONE was watching. Everyone thinks they were. It's a fascinating collective false memory.

Anyone who experienced the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion, like I did, is probably a bit hesitant to get too excited about the Artemis II launch today. I truly hope our children don’t have to experience such tragedy. May the Universe welcome them and return them safely home 🙏

@aakashgupta @LesBowen I’ve taken the AA bus from ACY to PHL. It was a great experience and at very little cost. If you’re concerned about TSA lines at PHL, I’d start in ACY. You’d be driving there anyway. Parking is easier and cheaper.

American Airlines has 77 regional planes sitting in storage because they can't find pilots to fly them. The expected U.S. pilot shortfall in 2026 is 24,000. Training a new commercial pilot takes 2-3 years minimum and costs six figures. So American found a loophole. Partner with a bus company, brand the bus "American Eagle," sell the seat on aa.com with a flight number, route passengers through TSA, let them pick a seat, check bags, earn AAdvantage miles. The entire experience is designed to feel like a flight in every way except the part where you leave the ground. The economics are staggering. A regional jet on a 90-mile route needs two pilots ($100K+ each), a flight attendant, jet fuel, FAA maintenance requirements, and an aircraft that costs $20-30 million. The Landline bus needs one driver and a highway. South Bend to Chicago O'Hare is 90 miles. That route doesn't make money with a regional jet anymore. It barely made money before the pilot shortage. The bus lets American keep selling connections through O'Hare to every destination in its network without operating a single flight. This is what the pilot shortage actually looks like. Not cancelled routes. Not smaller airports going dark. The airline just quietly reclassified a bus as a flight and kept charging accordingly. The TikTok exposing it has 13 million views because the passenger cleared security, sat at a gate, and watched her luggage get loaded onto a coach before it merged onto the interstate. The word "bus" appears once during booking in small text. Google Flights lists it with a tiny bus icon. The airline says customers are "transparently informed." 72% of U.S. airports have already lost an average of 25% of their flights to the shortage, and Landline is expanding, not shrinking. Philadelphia, Chicago, and now five regional airports are on the bus network. American Airlines is solving a $28,000-per-pilot-shortfall crisis by removing the pilot from the equation entirely. The bus is the product now. The flight number is just packaging.

🤣😂 I love all things #PHILLY, but I struggle at times with the pessimistic outlook 2 months into the offseason! The #SalaryCap dictates change that affects all teams! And with the necessary changes on offense, shouldn't we wait and see how things evolve? The OLine will not endure another barrage of injuries like last yr. And #VicFangio has proven that whatever #Howie gives him to work with, by seasons end, his unit will be top 5! With the draft on the horizon, and moves still to be made, a disaster is a bit of hyperbole! Geez, can we wait and see the finished product first???
