While Israel accelerates the pace of normalizing relations with the separatist region of Somaliland, by appointing its former ambassador to several African countries in Hargeisa, the capital of the region, reports speak of the marriage of the daughter of the region’s president to a figure close to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Despite the world being preoccupied with the conflicts of the Middle East, Tel Aviv is quietly taking a new step in the Horn of Africa. Israel has not only broken the region’s international isolation as the first state to recognize it, but is now blending diplomacy with personal relations. Michael Lotem, who served in Kenya and Azerbaijan, has been appointed ambassador in Hargeisa, allowing Israel to monitor the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The kinship relationship represented by the marriage of the president’s daughter to a figure close to Netanyahu appears to be a cheap price for a strategic file. History will not forgive those who mixed marriage with the interests of peoples!

In Davos, US President Donald Trump ignored meeting with Abd al-Rahman "Uro," the ruler of the separatist Somaliland region, who met Eric, Trump's son, at the dinner table hosted by Israeli President Isaac Herzog. Uro once again thanked Israel for its "recognition" of Somaliland as a sovereign state, claiming it was a "deserved achievement" earned through "long struggle, stability, democracy, and wise governance," and that it plays a vital role in securing the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea. This "recognition" is a blatant aggression against Somalia's sovereignty, following 34 years of failed secession attempts. Israel refuses to recognize a Palestinian state yet divides Somalia with "Netanyahu's paper," hindering peaceful unification and fueling terrorism like "Al-Shabaab." Israel, a "genocide state," seeks a military base in the region, forcibly displacing Palestinians from Gaza in exchange for the recognition, and normalizing ties to control maritime routes. Most world countries condemned it, including 22 Islamic nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, demanding the withdrawal of the recognition as a violation of international law. Somaliland is not "stable and democratic" but an integral part of Somalia, serving a Zionist agenda that threatens the region. Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud declared Somalia an indivisible unity and threatened to confront this intervention by all means.

Could you please clarify whether you were #officially_accredited for the World Economic Forum in Davos #WEF_badge and in what capacity, or whether these were meetings in Davos during WEF week outside the official WEF framework (which anyone can do) ❓ Otherwise, your wording creates the impression that the WEF @wef invited secessionists or granted them official visibility. A clarification is important to avoid misunderstandings and reputational harm to the WEF . @TheVillaSomalia @HassanSMohamud @SalahJama

Last night in Davos, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, i met with the President of the State of Israel, @Isaac_Herzog at a high-level dinner. Our discussions focused on strengthening and advancing bilateral relations between the Republic of Somaliland and the State of Israel. I also met @EricTrump , an influential global figure and son of the President of the United States, as well as other senior global political figures and international leaders.

Somalia’s national security requires the immediate and comprehensive deployment of the Somali National Army to all international border crossings and sensitive frontier areas. This includes, Buhoodle, Moyale, Galdogob, Togwajaale, and Lowyacado, as well as all other official and unofficial entry points along Somalia’s borders. A permanent SNA presence is essential to protect Somalia’s sovereignty, prevent illegal crossings, and uphold the country’s constitutional territorial integrity.

This is Somaliland. A very small country that has been agitating for independence and international recognition due to historical genocide and oppression they suffer from Somalia. But that’s not my point. Now look at this picture here. Is there anywhere in Nigeria right now you can take a picture like this at night and there will be light everywhere? 💔 If Somaliland that is battling Somalia and is facing oppression, can have light everywhere like this, what is our excuse?

The president of Somalia, a failed state, recognizes Israel. Why is it only a moral conundrum when Somaliland also recognizes Israel? The hypocrisy of Somalians must be studied and turned into a case study - when a state fails, so do its citizens 😂

The people having the biggest meltdown today aren’t even Villa Mogadishu. It’s the Turkish colonial elites. They’re rattled because they fully embraced the role of “protector” of the Somali zoo, but when Israel enters the picture, Turkey’s leverage collapses. There’s not much you can do when Papa Bear America stands squarely behind Israel. If Israel wants to advance its security, weapons development, and regional dominance, the smart move for everyone else is simple: don’t collide with U.S. interests. What Netanyahu dropped this morning wasn’t just a statement. It was a geopolitical shockwave. And it’s going to take Ankara some time to digest that reality. Now ask yourself this question, honestly: Why are the Turks more outraged than the so-called Somalis themselves? The answer is obvious. Because your so-called leadership handed them the peninsula’s natural resources, strategic access, and political leverage on a silver platter. When outsiders are more emotionally invested in your “sovereignty” than you are, that tells you everything you need to know about who actually owns the project. This isn’t solidarity. It’s dependency dressed up as religion and rhetoric.

Israel’s recognition of Somaliland today is not a distant development, but an alarm bell. It is part of a broader strategy to fragment Islamic countries and neutralize key states through encirclement. By doing so, Israel is not only dividing Somalia, a country that is 100% Muslim, and risking an internal war with Sudan-like mass atrocities, but also gaining access to the critically strategic Port of Berbera at the exit of the Red Sea, in the Gulf of Aden. This move effectively encircles Egypt and Saudi Arabia, the two major powers of the Red Sea, as well as Türkiye, which has a highly strategic base in Somalia that is vital for our Africa policy. That such a development is taking place while the genocide in Gaza continues is nothing short of a humiliation for the Islamic world. The failure to foresee and act against this development is an unacceptable negligence. In 2012–2013, when some Western countries attempted to divide Somalia by recognizing Somaliland’s independence, we acted decisively. We brought together Somali Federal President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo in Ankara on April 11–13, 2013, and through a trilateral mechanism and a joint declaration, we blocked this plan. Now is the time to act again. I urgently call on the President and the government to take the following steps: 1.Establish direct contact with the Presidents of Somalia and Somaliland and invite them to Türkiye for face-to-face talks. 2.Appoint a special envoy and dispatch them to the region. The most qualified figure for this role is former Ambassador to Somalia, Kani Torun, who knows all regional actors closely. 3.Urgently consult with the leaders of Egypt and Saudi Arabia and send a joint delegation composed of the three countries’ Foreign Ministers to both sides. 4.Engage with the UAE, which operates the Port of Berbera, to warn and consult on Israel’s destructive, civil-war–provoking policies that could lead to proxy wars in Somalia after Sudan. 5.The leaders of these three countries should simultaneously and in coordination meet with U.S. leader Trump and UK Prime Minister Starmer to prevent any recognition of Somalia’s division. 6.Immediately establish contact with the Northeastern State federal administration, which represents nearly half of Somaliland’s population and has declared its loyalty to Mogadishu by rejecting secession. 7.Before developments escalate irreversibly, engage with Angola (Chair of the African Union) and The Gambia (Chair of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation), Lebanon (Chair of the Arab League) to call for urgent diplomatic action to preserve Somalia’s unity. With every move, Israel is attempting to establish a hegemonic order stretching from the Caspian to Aden, from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Gulf. This development also clearly reveals that the so-called Abraham Accords are, at their core, an imperialist project aimed at further fragmenting the Islamic world and Africa into ever smaller pieces. All countries and leaders who fail to act against this will bear a grave historical responsibility.

Presidency | Republic of Somaliland@Presidencysl_

On 26 December 2025, the State of Israel formally recognized the Republic of Somaliland as a sovereign and independent state, following a high-level virtual meeting between H.E. President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. During the discussions, the Prime Minister extended a formal invitation to President @Abdirahmanirro to undertake an official visit to the State of Israel to advance and formalize bilateral cooperation. This historic act affirms Somaliland’s enduring statehood, validates its decades-long pursuit of lawful recognition, and marks its irreversible emergence onto the international stage as a legitimate, responsible, and peace-anchoring member of the community of nations.

I urge @TheVillaSomalia to move decisively and open formal engagement with #AwdalState now. Recognition and integration of a new Federal Member State in the northwest would reshape the political map. This is also a geopolitical necessity. #Djibouti would naturally be concerned about Somaliland recognition, as it risks losing its strategic influence to U.S. and allied military interests that would inevitably establish a foothold there. #Somalia must act first, on its own terms, to secure its territory and partnerships. Deploy & train Northeast forces and Federal forces to #Oog and the frontline in the north. If we can work with Djibouti, deploy forces to Awdal with the support of the local population. Especially as the extremist Netanyahu regime is squabbling to get Hargeisa recognised in exchange for the displacement of Palestinians. We are not only preserving our unity, we also preventing the displacement of our Palestinian brothers & sisters.

Somalians have no consistent values or guiding principles. Everything is negotiable in their relentless pursuit of aid and profit. In 1977, members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine hijacked a West German Lufthansa airliner in an attempt to secure the release of West German terrorists. Five countries refused to take part in resolving the crisis. Mogadishu enticed the hijackers with promises of safe passage and sanctuary. This was a calculated ruse coordinated with the West German government. As Somalian officials lulled the Palestinians into a false sense of security, the elite GSG 9 commandos were already en route. When the operation began, the PFLP hijackers were killed except for one female member, who was injured and became the only survivor. In return, Mogadishu was rewarded with millions of dollars from West Germany along with free aircraft servicing and a Lufthansa hub in Frankfurt. Today, Somalian lobbyists are pressing for meetings with American officials, seeking to join the Abraham Accords in exchange for aid and the isolation of Somaliland. Throughout history, the Somalian has repeatedly acted with duplicity, saying one thing and doing another whenever there is a payout to be had.
