@kiwehhhhh A place like Laramie is good to visit if you plan to spend most of your time seeing the surrounding national scenery, and you stay at a hotel in Laramie. Medicine Bow National Forest is about an hour by car from Laramie, for instance.

I spoke with my great aunt today, who's from Belgium. She told me when she first moved to the U.S. she made a point of visiting Laramie, Wyoming, cause a friend had been and told her it was cool. But when she got there, she was like, what the hell, this sucks

But one thing that stands out, when listening to either of them speak, is how bereft of "charisma" both of them are, in comparison to Ocasio-Cortez. I will tell this story again: We ran a project with working class women in 2019-2020 near Scranton Pa. Those women related to Trump and Biden. They genuinely didn't even understand the language of other Dems running for Pres (oligarchs anyone?). They thought Dems sounded like elites who looked down on them. The folks that scoff at this video tell on themselves that they are in elite bubbles.

Look, Francesca Hong is doing her thing. She’s running as an unapologetic socialist-left candidate, and no one reasonable can begrudge her of that. There is clearly voter appetite for it within the Wisconsin Democratic primary electorate— she has a high floor but one that will likely fall short of 50%. If you are at all worried, as I am, about the possibility of Hong losing the general to MAGA Fuck Tom Tiffany — yes, even in an environment this blue — and undoing so much great work that has been done in Wisconsin in recent years, you should be furious at Mandela Barnes & Sara Rodriguez for putting their own egos first instead of being grownups and agreeing to consolidate.

It would be important to seriously study the origin of the anti-China obsession by the @FT and somewhat less so by the @WSJ.
What is strange in it is that most of readers of such financial papers are involved in China, directly or indirectly, and make money working, investing, buying in China. Consequently, they do not have interest in reading propagandistic anti-China articles, nor getting inaccurate information.

AOC 2028 is the biggest opportunity for a left-wing president that will probably exist in our lifetime and the most feasible one since FDR got elected (she has a better chance than Bernie ever did). There probably won't be another chance for multiple decades given what Republicans will do if either they win the presidency in 2028, or a centrist Dem wins in 2028, does nothing of significance, and then hands it back to the fascists the next election. It's AOC or bust and that's my mindset and this seems like something that would make that outcome less likely.

McAleveyian organizing tactics are meant to be used in hostile and antagonistic environments where the threat of loss of income or housing is a real concern. Turning those tactics inward is precisely what creates the factionalism we see now.
We treat our org as the shop floor and opposing caucuses like corporate bosses, and try to radicalize *fellow comrades* against other comrades. The fact this goes unseen by folks I otherwise consider incredibly intelligent is actually mind boggling.
Who could have foreseen utilizing tactics developed for antagonistic organizing would replicate antagonistic relationships? What kind of person would produce a material analysis like this? Some kind of socialist?

Calling one-on-ones—a classic organizing skill which labor and civil rights activists used extensively—“okey doke bullshit” is very revealing, as is the exhortation to “educate” rather than to organize or to persuade.

The thing with the DSA right is that their whole method of engagement is so fucking duplicitous and fake lol. They remind me of the liberals I worked with at a nonprofit. Have a Bernie or a BLM bumper sticker on your Prius and then treat us, the Black staff that made the place run, like shit. “OMG I AM SOOOO ANGRY at the ULTRAS WHO ARE TAKING AWAAAAY YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE!!! THEY HATE QUEEN AOC!! SIGN OUR PETITION!!!” Like shut the fuck up. It’s pathetic. They rely on keeping people ignorant so they can play on their emotions. They don’t want people knowing what’s going on elsewhere or at the national level. Argue and struggle your line openly, in front of the chapter. Educate everybody about both sides of the argument. No one on ones or any of that okey doke bullshit. Face the masses and say why you believe what you believe. This is socialist politics.
