I’ve never seen such a disconnect between the commentary on this site and what I hear in the real world. I’ve talked to dozens of normal conservatives in real life about the Iran War and I haven’t met a single one who’s actually enthusiastically in favor of it. At best they’re warily optimistic. In most cases they’re opposed. In some cases they’re not only opposed but deeply furious. And yet here if you utter a word of criticism about the war you’ll be shouted down by throngs of alleged American conservatives who allegedly have wanted nothing more than for America to go to war with Iran. It just doesn’t reflect what I see on the ground. That’s not just cope because my position is unpopular with “my side.” I’ve held plenty of unpopular positions. I really don’t care. But in this case the social media vs real world divide is stark and unlike anything I’ve seen before.

Rush Limbaugh and Charlie Kirk were college drop outs. You never saw neocons dismissing them as "podcasters and talk radio hosts." No one has any gold plated qualifications to talk about Iran. Especially those who were wrong about every other regime change war.

What a charlatan this guy is. Ben Shapiro has no shame. After being wrong about everything many times over, he's asking us to sacrifice for a costly, long war that's neither necessary nor in our interest, all to secure the "greater good" of Israel on the back of dying Americans.

"Our" military members are "heroes" because they're willing to "sacrifice" their lives "for a greater good"—a future world where "energy will become cheap again because the Strait of Hormuz will be free again."

@michaelmalice Yeah that is interesting. Obviously, the American Indians are a prime example of that. I wonder how that would work with European Colonizers taking over the continent though?

@michaelmalice No. I think with America's unique geography and abundant resources that it would be much less likely to happen here, though.
Also, I think the argument that we would have a more moral society is plausible under agrarianism.
I'm not really arguing for it, I'm just curious.

@michaelmalice Yeah, that's fair. And I'm a city dweller, so I appreciate the positives.
I just have what I think is a rational fear of the entire system buckling at some point, and that would lead to mass starvation and death of almost everyone we know and love. That's why I ask. Thanks!
