DCI VALIDATES COUNTERTERRORISM INVESTIGATION CURRICULUM Today, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), through the National Criminal Investigations Academy (NCIA), conducted an Internal Validation Exercise for the Counterterrorism Investigation Course Curriculum, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing the country's capacity to respond to terrorism and violent extremism. The validation exercise brought together senior officers from DCI Headquarters, as well as Regional, County, and Sub-County Criminal Investigation Offices, alongside NCIA instructors and curriculum experts to collaboratively review and enrich the curriculum, drawing on their operational experiences and professional insights. During the opening session, Mr. Ibrahim Jillo, the Commandant NCIA, emphasised that evolving security threats necessitate investigators who are highly skilled, intelligence-led, and thoroughly prepared to respond effectively. This validation exercise serves as a strategic quality assurance measure designed to ensure that the curriculum remains operationally relevant, legally sound, and aligned with national security priorities and international best practices. Participants focused on several key areas, including investigative techniques, cyber-enabled extremism, financial investigations, intelligence analysis, inter-agency collaboration, and prosecution support. The updated curriculum is expected to significantly enhance DCI's investigative capacity, equipping investigators to conduct intelligence-driven, evidence-based, lawful, and human rights-compliant counterterrorism investigations. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations reaffirms its commitment to continuous training, institutional capacity building, and enhancing investigative preparedness to effectively safeguard national security.
