People are clipping @MarkJCarney “Canada Strong will help make America Great Again” line and pretending it’s some sort of MAGA conversion.
That’s not what he was saying.
The point of the speech was that a stronger Canadian economy benefits both countries. Our energy, critical minerals, manufacturing, agriculture, and integrated supply chains support millions of jobs on both sides of the border.
You don’t have to agree with Carney’s policies, but context matters. The message wasn’t “Canada should become MAGA.” The message was that a prosperous Canada is good for Canada and good for the United States.
That’s how trade is supposed to work: both sides win. If one side loses, it’s not a partnership. It’s a dependency.
