This is probably the only time that Donald Trump has reposted a Saturday Night Live clip, and it is about Keir Starmer preparing to make a phone call to him with the help of David Lammy.

‘Bring on automation as quickly as possible.’ ‘It has to do with fatigue and safety.’ Political commentators Stella Tsantekidou and Lee Harris go head-to-head over the RMT union’s tube driver potential strikes over demands for condensed working hours.

A pleasure to be in Belfast speaking to unionists with deep pride for our history and traditions. Northern Ireland will always be a proud part of the United Kingdom 🇬🇧

If you want to see the best and worst of the Commons, watch Catherine West's snippy response to Geoffrey Cox. Disoriented by a rare display of brilliance in the Commons, she can only call him patronising (inevitably, before reading off a sheet) and her colleagues can only jeer

On the low quality of staffers - I once ran into two Parliamentary Assistants working for an (absolutely awful) senior Tory MP. Obviously, they were politically atrocious - but more offensive was that the best answer they could give as to why they decided to work in politics was because they are "interested in foreign policy". When pressed on what exactly their thoughts on foreign policy were, they offered: "well, I think everything that's going on now is, like, really important..." - I am rarely speechless, but I have to say I had no answer to that profound insight. And this is basically the standard for most such people (who, bear in mind, are the primary pool from which future MPs are selected)!

Labour MP Charlotte Nichols bravely revealed in parliament the story of her PTSD—that is what a remarkable speech looks like, writes @prospect_clark prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/72705…

Unite has made it clear that the actions of Labour against the Birmingham bin workers will not continue to be tolerated. @unitetheunion members are coming to the end of the line as far @UKLabour is concerned. newstatesman.com/politics/uk-po…

Exclusive Rachel Reeves steps up criticism of Brexit as she calls for closer alignment with the Single Market “Brexit has not been good for our country, for growth, for prices in the shop. "It’s almost ten years since we voted Leave. That ship has sailed but there’s an awful lot we can do to improve our trading relations. Where that requires alignment in our national interest, we should absolutely align.” Reeves says she recently met a supermarket boss and the head of a major conglomerate and both argued that Brexit has caused significant damage. “These are two huge businesses saying it’s difficult for us and it pushes up prices and costs, but for small businesses it is really challenging.” Asked to choose between President Trump and Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European Commission, she does not hesitate. “Ursula von der Leyen,” she says. “I believe our future is closely intertwined with that of Europe.” She highlights the Erasmus student exchange programme — the UK will rejoin next year, but Reeves says it was lost to a “generation of our children” — and says she wants an “ambitious” youth mobility scheme which will enable young people from the EU to live and work in the UK and vice versa She refuses to say whether there will be a cap on numbers, describing it as a “live negotiation”, but insists it will not represent a “return to free movement” thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@Labanb Trial by jury isn't being ended. Just stops applying to trials that would result in sentences of under 3 years. There is no need to exaggerate what is being proposed.
