To say the Hooghly in Kolkata looks clean because of the Mamata government is not just funny, it’s misleading. The Hooghly meets the sea, and tides push water in and out twice every day. Because of this, pollution does not stay in one place. It gets spread across a huge volume of water. The river in Kolkata is also very wide and deep, which further dilutes what you see on the surface. It may appear clean because of constant flow and mixing, but that is not the real condition of the water.
