NewDEAL has become a premier resource for emerging leaders since it was launched fifteen years ago. In 2025, I was lucky enough to be picked as a finalist for our Community EMS Bike Program which has been essential in our community.
Looking forward to the next fifteen years of leadership, innovation and growth by this organization that I'm proud to be apart of.
The NewDEAL@NewDEALLeaders
It's NewDEAL's 15th Birthday! What began as an idea in 2011 is now a national network of leaders driving real results. The next generation of leadership isn't coming- it's already here! Stay tuned this week as we celebrate. #HappyBirthdayNewDEAL newdealleaders.org/15th/

@IanGaudrea30195 @JRobFromMN So sorry to see that the KING OF PROVIDENCE, R.I. has declared it “divisive”.
BUT THE KING HAS SPOKEN!

Congresswoman Pressley.
"Birthright citizenship is exactly that: a birthright." That is a tautology. You defined a word using itself. That is not a constitutional argument. That is something you put on a bumper sticker when the actual argument runs out. Running on dial-up in a fiber-optic world, but let us keep going.
Here is where this gets genuinely interesting — and I say this with complete sincerity — you are RIGHT that the 14th Amendment is rooted in the fight against slavery. You are COMPLETELY right. And that fact destroys your own argument.
Senator Salsbury said on the floor of the United States Senate in 1866, voting FOR the amendment: "I do not presume that anyone will pretend to disguise the fact that the object of this section is simply to declare that FREED SLAVES shall be citizens of the United States. There can be no other object, no other purpose."
The AUTHOR of the clause, Senator Jacob Howard, stated in his opening remarks introducing it to the Senate: it "will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are FOREIGNERS or ALIENS."
So the amendment was written FOR people who were brought here against their will, who had no other country, who had no other allegiance, who were ALREADY HERE and needed recognition of the citizenship they had earned through generations of suffering. That is honorable. That is righteous. That is exactly what it should have done.
It was NOT written for someone who flew in from Beijing on a tourist visa nine months pregnant. It was NOT written for someone who crossed the border illegally last Tuesday. The senators who wrote it said so. On the record. In 1866.
You are invoking the legacy of freed slaves to defend a policy the freed slaves' own legislators specifically said the amendment did not cover.
Let me also ask you the question nobody on your side will answer. If the 14th Amendment is purely geographic — if being physically born on American soil is the ONLY requirement — then why do children of foreign diplomats NOT receive citizenship? They are born here. They breathe American air. They are delivered in American hospitals. Where is their birthright, Congresswoman? You cannot have an exception for diplomats without acknowledging that jurisdiction means something MORE than geography. And the moment you acknowledge that, the Congressional Record from 1866 tells you exactly what that something more is.
One more thing. You represent Massachusetts. Your constituents face real struggles — cost of living, housing, education. What legislation have you passed — not opposed, not tweeted about, PASSED — that put money in their pockets or opportunity in their hands? Because from here, your congressional record looks like an unbroken string of things you are against. The people who sent you to Washington deserve someone fighting FOR them, not just performing outrage for the cameras.
But what do I know — I am only a science teacher and Army combat medic who read the Congressional Globe instead of a press release.

Doctors told pregnant women that smoking was fine.
Doctors told parents to put babies to sleep on their stomachs.
Doctors told patients that thalidomide was a safe sedative.
Doctors told people dealing with chronic pain that OxyContin was non-addictive.
Doctors told everyone that margarine was safer than butter.
Doctors told patients that lobotomies were a legitimate treatment for depression.
Doctors told the public that DDT was safe to spray directly on children to control lice.
Doctors endorsed specific cigarette brands in medical journals.
Doctors told patients with stomach ulcers it was stress, for decades, while Barry Marshall was being laughed out of conferences for suggesting it was a bacterium.
Doctors told millions of people that dietary fat caused heart disease, based on a study that excluded the fifteen countries whose data didn't fit.
And now a doctor is going to tell you that seed oils are fine.
You decide how much weight to give that.

🚨 Fetterman Drops a Bomb on Oprah:
Senator John Fetterman just exposed how Oprah Winfrey allegedly tried to buy his vote on the “Big Beautiful Bill.”
“She had her assistant approach me and offer me $20 million to vote against the bill,” Fetterman told the Senate Oversight Committee.
“I told her that’s not how our country works.”
He immediately informed Democrat leadership.
Their response?
“They swept it under the rug.”
A Democrat senator turning down $20M from one of the most powerful liberals in America — and his own party buried it.
Integrity over cash.
Rare sight in DC.
What do you think — real stand or political theater? 👇

Jackson being the 1 in an 8-1 vote and writing a dissent longer than the opinion indicates no interest in even the pretense of legitimacy. She’s not preserving any capital because there’s no reason to do so. You can predict her vote on every case which comes before the court from now until we are liberated
All you have to do is ask yourself what ruling would best serve the interests of gay race communists. And then you can read forty pages of absolute nonsense about why she ruled that way
We don’t have to live under an illegitimate government. We don’t have to allow a barely literate baboon ideologue to desecrate one of our highest institutions. Don’t they like to say that when someone shows you who they are, believe them? Believe them

Tell me if you’ve heard this one.
What do you call an elected official who stomps their feet at a #NoKings jamboree screaming about fascism and dictatorship and then, wields governmental power to stop a private citizen from painting on their private property? Answer: Mayor
@PVDMayor Brett Smiley waves his little scepter and its bye-bye murdered immigrant girl memorial. Why because it makes you uncomfortable? These people are sick.

Days after last year’s Palisades and Eaton wildfires, several heroic Los Angeles residents tackled and zip-tied a man starting fires with a blowtorch in their neighborhood.
Los Angeles Police Department arrested 34-year-old Sierra-Leyva for a felony probation violation, but somehow determined that even though he was starting fires with a blowtorch, it wasn’t quite enough for an arson charge.
I hope you’re sitting down because it turns out Sierra-Leyva is an illegal immigrant with a lengthy criminal history and is suspected of starting other fires.
I hope you are still sitting down, because a Van Nuys jail ignored an ICE detainer and released him. Fortunately, ICE was there and immediately re-arrested the arsonist.
