I would say why didn’t we try but it’s beyond that. He didn’t want to join us. Simple as that.

Conor Gallagher went on loan to Crystal Palace and became their club player of the year ahead of players like Zaha, Eze and Olise. He came back to Chelsea determined to make it at all cost. In his 2nd season back at the club, he was one the club’s top performers. But due to the new owners obsession with “pure profits” and some fans on social media who saw his good form as a threat to Enzo Fernandez, they came with different agendas; he is not creative, he is not technical, he is a road runner and then named him “Galladog”. He was wanted out. Gallagher was ready to accept any contract offer to stay at the club he loved so much and turned down approach from different clubs which further got fans online angrier. When he saw that there was no choice for him, he decided to move to Atletico Madrid. On his way to Madrid, he was stuck at Madrid airport for 2 days as the club was doing everything possible to see that the transfer materialized. At the end, the club had to make an unnecessary signing in Joao Felix so that Gallagher could complete his transfer. A year later, he was on the move again after being unsettled in Spain and you want to tell him where he would go as a show of loyalty. Loyalty to who? If you think Conor Gallagher did anything wrong by joining Tottenham. If you feel he betrayed anyone by joining Tottenham. Let’s be honest how many of the players in this current Chelsea side would Roman Abramovich bought?

@ChicagoDmitry The part I don’t understand (aside from Palmer obviously being the anomaly) is that we’ve actively let go of players from our own academy who are arguably better than the ones we’ve bought in, especially those who were at City. It baffles me.

Also every Joe Shields signing aside from Palmer has been a complete waste of money, which isn't a great advert for a guy whose only skill is having a rolodex full of former City players

I can’t believe how this has become the main talking point of the day, where was all this outrage when Pickford fouled Gusto and a penalty wasn’t given or when Delap blatantly dived or when Neto got wiped by Mitchell and all the Palace players froze yet no penalty was given… 🤔
