I’ve written more assembly than you’ve read. Here’s some facts for you. Assembly is a programming language. It is the human representation of machine code. When Elon says writing the binary directly, he is talking about writing an executable binary. Assembly has nothing to do with it. Any CS grad would understand this.

@jamesrom @LukasHozda I know how to read and write assembly in multiple archs. What do you know? Judging by the words you’re using, not that

@robustus Code itself will go away in favor of just making the binary directly. The next step after that is direct, real-time pixel generation by the neural net.

Huge thanks to all the open source projects that've made a lot of the tech we rely on in the world possible: Linux Git FFmpeg PyTorch & TensorFlow Apache & Nginx MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite Chromium & Firefox GCC & LLVM Docker & Kubernetes Also, all the open-weight LLMs... and all the programming language interpreters, compilers, and frameworks. I can list 100+ more "niche" open source projects I've used & loved (e.g., OpenCV ❤️). But I just wanted to give a continued big thank you to the open source community for everything you do for humanity 🙏

Life is full of interesting surprises. I stopped by Paris and ran into these two (@durov and @jack) separately, and we had an amazing conversation about life and freedom. The experience definitely felt like part of a simulation. I'm pretty sure the pic is AI generated. I'm grateful for this life, whatever it is, and for all of you 🙏❤️

@levelsio @kurorosage You do not need max heat for a good sear. What an absurd claim. Olive oil can be used just fine, and finish with butter. By the way, what do you think the crust of your steak is made of? (hint, it’s similar compounds to burnt oils)

Butter is nice but worse to cook with than olive oil It burns faster Smoke point: - Butter: 150°C / 300°F - Olive oil: 200°C / 400°F - Beef tallow: 230°C / 420–450°F - Ghee (clarified butter): 260°C / 500°F

@levelsio How about butter? That has an even lower max temperature than olive oil, and it does the job perfectly fine?

this is to say that I believe I have a hugely disproportionate amount of followers. there are people way smarter and more worth of listening than me, they just don't have the same appetite to share their unfiltered dumb thoughts online as I do. I think X over-engages profiles who just post a lot, regardless of content. not having a downvote has its downsides. reddit is way more self-correcting, in that regard. that said, I shouldn't stop posting just because people follow me. I like sharing my thoughts. people just need to understand that I'm just a programmer having fun

people need to understand that what I'm doing is extremely simple. in fact, the whole point of NeoGen is to show how simple everything is. it is just a fact of nature that computers can do absurdly powerful things if you just figure out the canonical algorithm. and the canonical algorithm is often surprisingly simple in the right idiom. interaction nets merely give us that raw idiom. that's all

@levelsio @al3rez @anduriltech Unless you can guarantee it’s made in EU, you’re being gross. Copying an American design, making it elsewhere, claiming it’s made in EU. Yuck.
