@morgancheatham alternatively, in some derm research talks it's been interesting to hear that one might consider taking a biopsy and doing unbiased RNAseq, then treating based on some molecular signature, not a clinical presentation which is sometimes ambigious

@morgancheatham I've always wanted to approach immunologic diseases based on pathophysiology, but we group things by organ systems. I.e. I've heard the example that type 1 diabetes and vitiligo are both Th1 processes vs. eczema is a Th2 process, yet vitiligo and eczema both fall under "derm"

prediction: AI will collapse traditional medical specialties as we know them. medical specialties emerged out of necessity. as medicine became more complex, no single physician could master its full scope. we began dividing care by organ systems, technologies, and life stages — structures that mirrored both biology and the way symptoms typically presented. over time, hospitals, licensing bodies, and reimbursement systems ossified these divisions. we learned to think this way not just because it made biological sense, but because it was the only way we could manage complexity.

We’ve just finished writing the missing 15,616 Wikipedia articles to get complete coverage of all 19,255 human genes. We used PaperQA2, which has higher accuracy than existing human-written Wikipedia articles, as judged by blinded biology PhD students and postdocs. 1/5
