@DuttShekhar I have a different opinion. I think you can't always extrapolate future from past. Just because technology has been creating jobs doesn't mean it will keep doing that. Once I have a cheaper and smarter robot doing things for me, why would I hire a human?

30.9% of genetics papers data are kind of trash because of Excel’s aggressive auto-formatting. Until 2023, there was no global option to disable data conversion. For example, the human SEPT family (1-14) of genes is directly related to cell division and cancer research. I’ll give you one guess as to what that auto-formats to. Yup…turns into a date. Oh, it get’s worse though. Many labs use what are known as RIKEN identifiers. It’s a 10 digit alphanumeric code, kind of like a barcode that identifies a gene sequence. Here’s one: 2310009E13 Uh oh. There’s an “E” in there. Guess what that turns into? A floating point! Excel has a hard limit of 15 significant digits for floats. So, not only did your RIKEN identifier get formatted wrong, but it’s also rounded off to an unrecoverable state. 12.5% of the RIKEN database (Row E) is a disaster. If you know anything about Bioinformatics, you should be losing your mind. Remember, a huge amount of scientific research is meta-analysis. Good luck cross-referencing patterns when ~31% of the data has errors! So basically there’s a giant data hole from 2004-2023, much of which has been standardized into national / official databases, and there’s no good way to fix it.

@1shankarsharma I think many places equally beautiful and interesting, just not well advertised or well maintained. Buddhist sites in Bihar and UP, Forts in Maharashtra, Ajanta & Elora caves, Khajuraho, Hampi, Hoysala Temples of Karnatatka etc. There's a long list.

I am willing to lay the opposite bet. I was with the 3 foreign tourists recently in India for a few days. When you look at it from the lens of F2 tourists, barring Taj Mahal & Rajasthan Palace Hotels, there is nothing else that they want to see here with they cannot get anywhere else. ( And of course the approach to the Taj ,less said the better) International cards don't work in many many places. They don't want to carry a lot of cash around because of safety. The dirt, squalor ( just outside beautiful Deer park in Delhi, there is a dump truck permanently parked and never cleaned. Non existent roads and payments in most parts Terrible driving ethics whether it is on red light or coming the same way in a one way road whether it is within the city or on highways People who are not cultured or polite or even with basic manners of holding doors open or saying thank you Eg, Goa could have been our Bali , Phuket. But for that we need a swinging liberal culture not moral policing. And yes we need garbage free roads. Out of the 90 lakh tourists every year that come, I am counted a minimum of 20 times because I visit India that many times per year. NRIs are probably 40- 50% of that number. Genuine F2s, F2- esses are probably half. Other countries have not stood still and they have executed. People want amazing places to spend money on. Bali has 80 lakh tourists. Happening night life. Super cheap. Phuket too. Vietnam. Here we only talk and that's where it ends. But yes, this opportunity is a permanent past , present and future opportunity

@sanjeevsanyal What you've written is one possible contingency, but I see a very crucial point missing: The control over resources. Yes, Hunting was harder, and now you can order food, but you need money that you didn't need. And with all the better machinery, you're not even allowed to hunt!

I fully empathise with Prime Minister @narendramodi's appeal to save foreign exchange in this time of crisis and uncertainty. One way to do this is to consume less. The other way is to produce more. PM's pain points are oil and gold, India's two biggest imports, more than 30% of the total. If you add other resources from below the ground, it becomes 50%. Given our geology and our existing assets, we can massively increase production quickly. It has happened in past. Two things are required: privatisation and self-certification in clearances. Overall, in the below-the-ground sector, there are 24 PSUs which can be privatised and will result in manifold increase in production. Completing the privatisation of companies like HZL (govt holds 26%) and BALCO (govt holds 49%) will also result in much more output and jobs. When Vedanta acquired HZL in 2002, India was import-dependent for zinc. Today, we are self-reliant. With exactly the same assets. We did R&D and started producing silver and lead, which no one had imagined. And now we are in the process of doing R&D to produce rare earths. In aluminium, output was 1 lakh tonne, and now we are in the process of producing 60 lakh tonnes. I am 100% confident that India can produce enough resources domestically with existing assets (new assets take longer) to mostly take away imports. Government should trust the private sector to entirely eliminate any vulnerability on account of imports of oil, gold, silver, copper, fertiliser, and many other resources. We will deliver for India.

Once again I’m reminded how lucky we’re in C++ not to have a package manager and therefore no supply-chain attacks
TANSTACK@tan_stack

SECURITY ADVISORY — TanStack npm packages A supply-chain compromise affecting 42 @tanstack/* packages (84 versions total) was published to npm earlier today at approximately 19:20 and 19:26 UTC. Two malicious versions per package. Status: ACTIVE — packages are deprecated, npm security engaged, publish path being shut down. Severity: HIGH — payload exfiltrates AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, and Vault credentials, GitHub tokens, .npmrc contents, and SSH keys. If you installed any @tanstack/* package between 19:20 and 19:30 UTC today, treat the host as potentially compromised: • Rotate cloud, GitHub, and SSH credentials immediately • Audit cloud audit logs for the last several hours • Pin to a prior known-good version and reinstall from a clean lockfile Detection — the malicious manifest contains: "optionalDependencies": { "@tanstack/setup": "github:tanstack/router#79ac49ee..." } Any version with this entry is compromised. The payload is delivered via a git-resolved optionalDependency whose prepare script runs router_init.js (~2.3 MB, smuggled into each tarball at the package root). Unpublish is blocked by npm policy for most affected packages due to existing third-party dependents. All 84 versions are being deprecated with a SECURITY warning, and npm security has been engaged to pull tarballs at the registry level. Full technical breakdown, complete package and version list, and rolling status updates: github.com/TanStack/route… Credit to the security researcher for responsible disclosure.

In some sense they're wise. They're very risk averse and make sure that they make profits on every cent they spend. But this will not create a new market or a parallel economy, it will just replace/reduce the share of some companies in the market.

Victory and defeat are two sides of the same coin. In 2019, when @PandaJay lost Kendrapara - someone I had the opportunity to work with and learn from since childhood- I was devastated and heartbroken. I took a flight back to Odisha and asked him, “Don’t you feel sad? Don’t you think it was EVM tampering?” Jay smiled calmly and said, “It’s childish to blame EVMs. Accept defeat gracefully, work harder, and come back stronger next time.” That stayed with me. I wish @MamataOfficial learns the same grace in democracy. Elections are not won only when you win. Democracy also means having the maturity to accept defeat with dignity. @mp_office
