@UziCryptoo At college, they always said to check the last time the CFO went on vacation for more than 2 weeks. Always suspicious. Next up was a financial person who never left the role for more than 5 years. Auditing is playing detective.

A single accountant stole $53 million from her employer over 20 years and nobody noticed Rita Crundwell was the comptroller of Dixon, Illinois with a population of 15,000 She opened a secret bank account called “Reserve Sewer Capital Development Account” For two decades she transferred city funds into it while filing fake invoices She used the money to become the most successful quarter horse breeder in America Owned 400 horses, multiple farms, a custom bus, and a $2.1 million motorhome She won the World Championship in quarter horse breeding four times while actively robbing a small town Only got caught because a substitute accountant covered her desk while she was on vacation The city had been cutting firefighter jobs and road repairs for years while this was happening $53 million. One woman. 20 years. One vacation.

@UziCryptoo It’s crazy to me that people think you can’t make good money as a CPA. You just have to find your niche.

You underestimate how much people hate QR codes and don’t use them. I see so many business owners insist on having them on their vehicles and windows. All you’re doing is adding pointless clutter. I recently tested this and sent out 3000 prints with QR codes. I had just over 300 calls, which is great, but a whopping TWO code scans.

My grandpa has zero patience for QR codes😭😭

@purogio1 @pancas_rant @moseskagan In my recent search, it was interviews first, then whatever time was left went to the rest. I'd estimate about an hour and a half per day sourcing, 4 hours customizing resume, cover letters, and applying, a couple hours a day studying, portfolio, and practicing interviewing.

Without meaning to be insensitive: Really find it hard to get inside the brain of someone sitting around applying for jobs for six months, waiting to be hired. It for sure doesn't take all day to apply. You have unbelievable amounts of time. Use that time to build something valuable. Maybe it's a podcast where you interview noteworthy people in your field (learning and building a network as you go). Maybe it's an anon X account where you post interesting observations about your field and build an audience. Maybe it's a service business an entirely different field. Whatever you choose ought to be something that grows in value as you put in more effort. Along the way, you'll either get noticed and hired or you'll find that you can support yourself from the new thing you've built.

This lady is being asked to pay for her package but keeps mentioning tariff fees. It must be an international package. I've never heard of tariff fees upon delivery before—have you? I'd be hesitant and think it's not real.

@SusieM414141 Yes, fairly common with international purchases. You buy enough imported stuff, you'll run into it.

@HeroDividend Nah mate. You are wrong on this one. Great if you can order your car online, but why do Amazon need to get in the middle of it. If you know you want a ford, order from ford otherwise someone is taking a cut and what value do they add?

@ErikBootsma @moseskagan @AviWoolf Why couldn't you be in Hungary for a week as a W4? Too low of pay to afford it? I generally hear the opposite, how much people who start their own business miss paid PTO.

@moseskagan @AviWoolf Thanks. It's not been easy, lot of thin times which make the better times equal trying to catch up, but I'd not choose any other way. It's let me do a lot of amazing things that working a "regular" job wouldn't have let us do, (like be in Hungary for this past week). Thankful.

@pancas_rant @moseskagan This is absolutely dead on, looking for a job and customizing your resume, writing cover letters, applying, interviewing... It's more than a full time job already if you're serious about it.

@moseskagan That’s fair. I’d still say you are significantly overestimating the free time you have during a job search.

@realEstateTrent I once told a family member who was under 12 at the time..."I don't know why you're so obsessed with this sport. It's not like you're going to make it to _____" and...here we are 20+ years later. He made it...and he remembers me saying that.

This morning I was talking to one of the attorneys we work with. He’s also been a high school basketball referee for years. I brought up this topic, and his response was interesting. He said you barely see the parent craziness in high school. By then, everyone already knows which kids are actually elite, and which ones aren’t. There’s no illusion left. It’s really just a younger kids phenomenon where every parent thinks their kid exceptional. Reality shows up eventually.

Yesterday, my six-year-old son had his first Little League game of the year. I absolutely kid you not when I say I think at least a third of the parents on the team truly believe their son will one day make the major leagues.

@steviej0341 @WallStreetApes @GuntherEagleman The problem is that people are getting roped into debt so young now that by the time they graduate and figure out how money works, they're already buried under student loans, credit card debt, bnpl, etc.

This has a lot to do with life style also. Yes rent is high, groceries are high, but living within one’s means must still be a thing. In 2007 I was living in a tiny studio that cost $250 a month; it was tiny. I drove a 1993 Geo Storm that had over 100k miles. Did it suck? Yes. Was I jealous of friends and want to have nice things like they did? Of course. But I sucked it up. Today’s generations are willing to suck it up and save, invest, move if they have to to find a better paying job.

Young Americans are losing it and having mental breakdowns because they just can’t afford to live “I'm f*cking stressed out. I'm f*cking stressed. We should not be working like this. I work my ass off and I can't even f*cking pay bills — All of sh*t just pointless” The cost of living in America has to come drastically down. Americans can’t afford bills, they can’t afford a home, they certainly can’t afford to start a family An estimated 70% of Gen Z struggle to pay rent, an estimated 53% of Millennials also struggle just to pay rent This is not the America we want to live in
