@TravisRW @rckfortyone Yep. And asking someone like him for that kind of public mea culpa is just not realistic. The quick and decisive pivot, the empowering seasoned leaders, the willingness to pay them (and to pay others to go away) are all great signs. Can’t have everything.

Dumont moved more swiftly on AD, Nico, and Kidd than many would have. He will forever own the trade, but his error arose largely from naïveté, not a more egregious sin. People can learn. Even billionaires. I’d shake his hand and say, “You f*cked up, but now you can fix it.”

I covered Jason Kidd when he played for the Nets. I know one of his childhood friends. I've been to his house, met his kids, then-wife, and Pilates Instructor. And I have insight from many people who worked with him in his coaching years. This is a great firing.

The full reset from the Nico stench is the best part about this. But also very important is the signal this sends about the level of empowerment Masai has. Kidd was just extended and had real money and years remaining. And yet Dumont signed off. Great sign.

There’s so many people out here that haven’t come to grips with how dire things are, even with Flagg. The salary cap is beyond toast, and the ability to add talent is so thin. The saving grace is Flagg is so young, he’ll still be 25 when this thing finally resets. But what a slog

Just to reiterate, the instant the lottery was won, Nico should have been fired and AD (and all other veterans of value) should have been traded. This isn’t second guessing, I said it at the time.

This has been true for basically the whole season. If they wait too long, he will become a truly negative asset and require adding things to offload. A pick and expirings is the bar at this point.

The next offer Mavs get on Anthony Davis (injured again) is the one they should take. Basically doesn’t matter what it is, you will never get 25 cents on the dollar for his talent.

Crazy how different Cooper Flagg and this Mavs offense look with AD at the 5, Cooper at 4 and shooting around. So much more space and driving lanes to unlock his downhill bully ball game which is already awesome...

@Jobu_2 The alternative is to be mediocre at best. It’s not a great situation, but trading AD, Gafford, Klay and maybe even PJ is the only move that gives any hope.

If we had our picks, I’d be with you. As-is, might as well do a one year tank and try to win next season. Let cooper compete in games that matter.
