New York City Councilmember @OsseChi was arrested this week during an eviction protest in the historically Black neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, where many residents are being targeted for "deed theft," the practice of obtaining people's homes through fraud and deception. "Communities like mine have not only been seeing rampant displacement and gentrification, but also an attack on homeowners to force them out of their homes."

Council Member Chi Ossé was just arrested while defending his constituent, Carmella Charrington, from eviction. This is the result of deed theft and the ongoing displacement of Black homeowners in Bed-Stuy. Our office is closely monitoring this situation and will provide updates as this develops.

What we are not going to allow is the erasure of this fierce woman’s work . State Rep. Louise Lucas . Put some RESPECT on her name and give her her due !

CWA (@CWADistrict1) congressional endorsements include Brad Lander over Rep. Dan Goldman, Alex Bores in NY-12 and Antonio Reynoso in NY-07. That's another lefty union backing the Brooklyn BP over Claire Valdez - who was hoping to be the labor candidate, but isn't winning labor.

We need maximum Democratic gerrymanders in every state with a trifecta. Doesn't matter if the districts are barely contiguous or snake across a few dozen counties; if given the chance, Republicans will eliminate every single Black district they can.

Leadership requires the courage to learn from your past and change for the better. I was wrong about AIPAC!   I much better understand their stances, and I reject their funding and influence. From supporting a war with Iran to stopping a meeting when apartheid was mentioned to booing Pres. Obama after I spoke about Black and Jewish relations, it is clear to me that AIPAC is not aligned with my beliefs. Yes, I previously participated. But, I won't anymore.

@NYCComptroller It is very disappointing and disheartening that there are hardly any Black leaders or Black-led non-profits in attendance. We contribute to the economic development and success on Staten Island. Our contribution and input was greatly overlooked and ignored. Our voices matter too!

No state has ever been represented by two women of color in the US Senate. That’s about to change thanks to Illinois.

Seth Miller is on the Public Advocate’s Worst Landlords list. He’s also the first landlord in NYC history who's been court-ordered to pay $1,000 for every day his property violations at 919 Prospect Ave in the Bronx were unresolved. If the worst violations are not resolved by March 18th, all violations not resolved within 30 days, or he refuses to pay, our Tenant Protection Unit will seek further enforcement in court. Let this penalty be a warning to all bad landlords: We will use every tool at our disposal to protect tenants - in every borough.
