@SouthFortyMe @averytomascowx This is what I don’t understand. Sure, camp directors were asleep and maybe without cell service. But local authorities should have seen the warning at 1:30 right? They could have driven to camp and evacuated them. I wonder why that didn’t happen. It’s so sad.

All I'll say is this. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Kerr County more than 12 hours ahead of the catastrophic flood. A flash flood warning was issued for Hunt & Ingram 3 HOURS before the Guadalupe started to climb. They did their job and they did it well

@averytomascowx These camps are in an area with zero cell phone service. The staff in the cabins wouldn’t have gotten the warnings. These camps are built in zones that are permitted as safe from the flood zones that normally happen. Nobody can prepare for 26 ft in 45 minutes.

@LCRA why are there only 13 sites on the reservation website? There are about 40 parking spaces. Can’t the park handle more than 13 cars’ worth of people? Also the reservations are for the full day which seems excessive. I know it got too crowded last summer, hoping for compromise 🤞

@jasminedefoore We started the weekend and holiday reservation system in January to help control overcrowding and keep the park safe and enjoyable for all. Hope to see you there soon!
