I am tiring of this perception that anybody who is comfortably off in life is somehow evil and has screwed people to get ‘rich’. Sone have, true. But most worked bloody hard and don’t deserve resentment .

Boomers beware. Jim Chalmers is taking about ‘intergenerational justice’ in tax. That means a tax on boomers, who actually did a bit to build this country.

The genius of Australia is invisible to all of the political categories developed mostly in Europe and applied globally. All of the -isms: capitalism, socialism, liberalism, communism etc. Australia is none of those things. And that’s why it works. So what is it? /1

2/ Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Amendment Bill 2024 which changes came into effect in March. The effect is that the Banks are REQUIRED to look at everybody's accounts to see whether they have regular, steady income from identifiable sources within Australia.

Rant: #PoliticallyExposedPersonsAustralia I have noticed a bunch of people saying that they have been debanked for not answering questions from their bank. They seem universally to blame the bank. It is, however, the government that is architect of this scheme. It is due to the

I have my concerns, as a parent myself, I shared the duties with my wife whilst I was working afternoon shift, I did the raising during the morning when my wife worked. Raising children is a full time job, especially when they are toddlers. I would question anyone who says they can perform a full time job from home, meanwhile raising their children. This just doesn't seem like a good policy. I'd really question what full time work could be done in this situation, compared to what can be achieved in an office with little distraction.

Ah, the old mid-campaign policy reversal. :) That said, I bagged the LNP for the original policy, so I'll give them a wrap for fixing it, even if the motivation was electoral rather than policy. That said, it does raise some interesting points... 1/2 #auspol

Gen Z and Millennials will be pivotal in this election but they’re also the most difficult for the major parties to win over. Only around 40% of younger voters say they want to see a majority Labor or Coalition government. A full third of Gen Z want the Greens to play a role in a minority government and that number will be off the charts in inner Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. Of the two major parties, only Labor appears to be making a serious effort to win their support.
