Tomorrow, the Rules Committee will debate the Farm Bill, including the future of intoxicating hemp. In states where marijuana is illegal, kids are still getting high on delta-8 through the hemp loophole. No serious ID checks. Candy-style packaging. Gas station and online access. This is how you hook the next generation before they can even drive. Congress needs to end it.

President Trump made a grave mistake in softening the federal stance on marijuana by reclassifying it as a Schedule III drug. The dangers of weed are real, insidious and growing worse.

Thank you, President Trump, for leading the charge to expand access to CBD products. I’m working in Congress to deliver these critical reforms so farmers have certainty and Americans can continue to access safe, reliable hemp-derived products.

Marijuana today is much more potent than just ten or twenty years ago, leading to increased psychosis, anti-social behavior, and fatal car crashes. Arkansans don’t want more dangerous drugs obtained more easily. A change to marijuana’s drug classification is a step in the wrong direction.

The health consequences tied to marijuana use are serious—increased risk for heart attacks, strokes, psychotic disorders, and further addictions. When legislating on this issue, Congress needs to put the health and safety of the American people first, full stop. budd.senate.gov/2026/04/20/sen…

Washington is intent on an industry-ending ban on hemp with just the stroke of a pen. I just introduced a bill that pushes back, empowering the states, and protecting the hemp industry. paul.senate.gov/266421-2/

I’m working across the aisle to protect HEMP — a multi-billion dollar, legal industry supporting farmers in Kentucky and across America. Washington shouldn’t destroy what states are managing successfully. Let’s keep this industry strong.

🚨Big News on Hemp: Introducing the Hemp Safety Enforcement Act Congress's last-minute revival of hemp prohibition, included in last year's Continuing Appropriations Act, would ban most hemp products and wipe out the multi-billion-dollar industry, while depriving individuals of products they depend upon to improve sleep, relieve anxiety, and alleviate pain. My bill would protect thousands of jobs, family farms, and safe access for veterans and seniors.

Anti-cannabis groups suing to block a limited CBD program for seniors suggests they were never truly concerned about youth use, scromiting, etc., but instead cared only about stopping access to a natural medicine that could hurt the pharmaceutical and alcohol industries.

My Dearest Darlings, The real “Two Keys” Lexington needs? Permit reform and deregulation. This is what out-of-control home rule looks like: a local business buried under permits, zoning reviews, and stop-work orders before it can reopen. Reasonable safety standards are one thing. Bureaucracy for bureaucracy’s sake is another. At some point, this stops being about safety and starts being about red tape choking small business and jobs. Lexington has to decide: support growth or trap businesses in paperwork limbo.

Congressman @JamesComer and Commissioner @JShellKY are right: A delay of the recent hemp restrictions is an important step to protect Kentucky farmers, the crops already in the ground, and the hardworking men and women employed by the industry. lpm.org/news/2026-02-2…
