🚨EFFECTIVE TODAY, the @EUCouncil eliminated tariffs on U.S. agricultural products under @potus’ historic trade agreement. 🚨 This is a MAJOR win for American farmers. In the final year of the previous administration, our agricultural trade deficit with the European Union swelled to more than $23 billion… nearly HALF of America’s entire global agricultural trade deficit. This new deal will provide BILLIONS in new market access and export opportunities for our farmers, ranchers, and food producers. The latest trade forecasts show U.S. agricultural exports to the EU on track to hit a new all-time record in 2026! 🚨JUST ANNOUNCED:🚨 Today, we're launching the Fertilizer Investment and Expansion for Long-Term Domestic Supply (FIELDS) Program—a $500 million investment to accelerate fertilizer production right here in America. 🇺🇸 We're prioritizing projects that are shovel-ready, financially viable, backed by private investment, and capable of delivering measurable benefits for American farmers. Applications will be open for 45 days and must demonstrate strong financing, market demand, execution capabilities, and real production outcomes. Our goal is simple: Build fertilizer plants in America. Produce fertilizer in America. Deliver fertilizer to American farmers. America First means strengthening our domestic supply chain and reducing our dependence on foreign fertilizer.

This weekend, nearly 1,000 Republicans gathered in Lexington for our annual Statewide Lincoln Dinner. From Paducah to Pikeville, Kentuckians from all walks of life came together to hear from our nominees and party leaders about the path to victory this November. Republicans demonstrated this weekend that we are united, energized, and ready to win this fall. Kentucky agriculture leaders joined Commissioner Jonathan Shell, USDA Under Secretary Luke Lindberg, and USDA Under Secretary Richard Fordyce for a discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing Kentucky farmers and the future of agriculture in the Commonwealth.

Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell has issued a statement regarding the detection of New World Screwworm in the United States. At this time, there have been no cases detected in Kentucky. Current detections are limited to Texas and New Mexico.

Just wrapped up a virtual meeting with ~50 of our outstanding Texas cattle ranchers and @TAHC. I also have been in contact with @GregAbbott_TX, @LtGovTX, and the @Burrows4TX team. Our food supply is 100% safe. This potential New World Screworm detection is being fully contained and is not a harm to the American food supply or consumer safety. The NWS specimen has arrived at the airport in Ames, IA and is being transferred to National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL). We will update as soon as we have confirmed test results. Unfortunately, the open-border policies of the last administration and the resulting illicit cattle movement throughout Mexico have caused NWS to potentially reach our side of the border. BUT, there is no one better than Texas and our live stock producers to have in this fight. All models showed NWS coming to the U.S. last summer/early fall — so a big thank you to our partners across the industry and local, state and the entire Trump administration for unprecedented action that gave us almost an extra year to prepare for this moment. Together with so many partners, including the Texas Animal Health Commission, Texas A&M AgriLife, Texas Farm Bureau, Texas Cattle Feeders and Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, we will effectively combat, contain and eventually eradicate this pest. Additional @USDA personnel have arrived in South Texas to support our partners on the ground. The National Veterinary Stockpile is ready to deploy and on its way. I now call on our producers to be vigilant and watchful. The most effective thing to do right now is to put eyes on all live stock. If you see anything suspicious, contact your state animal health official (linked on the screwworm.gov website). Texas cattle and live stock producers are the backbone of our state and our nation.
