Farmer across the street working ground. So I text. Hey, can the kid swing by and run the tractor? He has an interest in agriculture. Farmer: no Me: ok Local farmer: why don’t younger people get involved? Me: auction the shit off to the highest bidder, retire, and shut the fuck up.

@ChetEdinger Pulled up to a blocked road in a drought with booms under power poles like that and “man we are efficient” is what crossed your mind?

We had a big week of planting and spraying for us. We have a great crew of guys and everyone stepped up to get as much done as possible with the rain event rolling in. It’s now raining & it is much needed with our dry conditions.

I am not debating DST. Why is there approximately 50 day from fall back to winter solstice and 80 days from winter solstice to spring ahead? Why isn’t it within a week of being equal?

@mendelmiles When we had way more small grains and swathing was always a thing we had a pull type and a 210 Ih. Now there doesn’t seem to be a sweet spot in swather ownership from this $1500 thing and a $105,000 self propelled.

@jayculver1 There's a good memory!! Versatile open cab for us growing up. Swathed close to 2000 acres with a 21' the year after my freshman yr in college. Fry with the wind, freeze against. Bugs everywhere.

1.30” with the melted snow in the thawed out rain gauge. The grass will be worth the slop we’re dealing with. #sdwx

@silagechopper @HankB67 @ChetEdinger @snodgrss 2012 Corn tasseled in late June and I thought it was going to be the greatest crop ever had. 6 weeks hot day and night and wind ended that. Still had some $7 corn. 06 was the worst dry year I’ve ever had. Combined every acre in September in 12 and 13 before end September.

We are over 1/2 done planting Spring Wheat tonight. I don’t ever remember a spring that was this dry to start. According to my favorite weatherman @snodgrss it doesn’t look good for us on getting any decent rains soon either. We will plant & hope for the best. #farming

I’ve got the itch to buy a classic pickup from the’70s, but when I really think about it, they weren’t nearly as good as everyone thinks they were. We thought a hundred thousand miles without an overhaul was some sort of a monumental achievement.
