@Pharmacistdaz @Parody_RCGP All of this stops the minute people recognise the boundaries of their roles. That a nurse remains a nurse. A physio is a physio and so on and so forth. The problem is that too many people, for whatever reason, have decided they have a right to practise medicine.

Junior docs today earn barely more than I did in 1996 after I graduated med school. I did not have to pay tuition fees, parking charges and I was provided with hospital accommodation. Resident doctors are paid less than the PAs who assist them. #isupportthestrike
Wes Streeting@wesstreeting

After a 28.9% pay rise thanks to a Labour government, patients and the public will be dismayed that the BMA is choosing to strike - and so am I. I have written to the BMA today reaffirming our preference to work together to improve their working lives and rebuild our NHS.

I graduated as a doctor 4 years ago with ~£100k of debt, and despite working up to 72 hours a week, my debt has only increased. Doctors are being paid £17/hour and have to make loan repayments and pay thousands for exams and fees. We are only asking for £23/hour. @wesstreeting

In one graph from ⁦@guardian⁩ is the relative drop in earnings of public sector workers. Not surprising that ⁦@TheBMA⁩ members say the DDRB ‘award’ is inadequate. Claps don’t pay the bills, childcare for 24/7 on-calls, housing & massive student loan costs - cash does.

Anyone seen the DDRB report yet (due in time for April pay packet), or how about the fact that government put economic context and what we believe could be interpreted as limits in the remit letter (which the agreement said should not have been in there). Get ready!

We've all been there. Everyone deserves to get from A to B in peace. Liberal Democrats are calling for change in the law to explicitly ban playing music and videos out loud from a phone on public transport in England, with those who breach the ban facing fines of up to £1,000.

Sad reflection of the decline also in clinical medical academics. A job planning failure to recognise teaching & assessments of the next generation of highly skilled expert doctors. Doctors do not aspire to mediocrity even if others might. That’s unnecessary, unsafe & untenable.
Dr Shivam Sharma@DocShivSharma

Physician Associates now assessing final year medical students. Is this a sign of declining educational standards in medicine? What impact will it have on the quality of doctors we produce?

Don't take the shifts. Exception report every missed break, every hour stayed over, every time you carry >1 bleep. Work with your @TheBMA reps, and other staff affected. They are in touch with the BMA staff and national BMA teams to support you. Collectivise. Organise. Win.
Dr Shivam Sharma@DocShivSharma

@uhbtrust ending locum pay for doctors is an incredibly shortsighted move. Ridiculous to end locum rates for doctors who are willing to step up when needed most. @uhbtrust must be aware this will lead to burnout and understaffed wards?

Today we announce our financial support to @AnaesUnited and the parents of Emily Chesterton in their legal case against @gmcuk on its failure to properly distinguish between doctors, PAs and AAs. Our support will protect AU and the Chestertons from the risk of financial loss arising from the case and is in addition to our own ongoing legal challenge against the GMC. We also seek assurances from @wesstreeting that the Government will not use public money to defend this case. Read the full details here: bma.org.uk/news-and-opini…
