🇰🇷[Shocking] 69 Foreign Students Caught in Gang R@pe of Korean Middle School Girl — But the Story Quickly Disappeared In 2021, 69 foreign students (mostly from Nepal and Bangladesh) at Kyungdong University in Gangwon Province were caught for repeatedly r@ping one 13- to 15-year-old Korean middle school girl over 100 times. They lured her through social media after rumors spread that “$ex with her was possible.” The girl, who often ran away from home, was offered food and a place to stay. The crimes were exposed when she confessed to her homeroom teacher during counseling. All 69 were arrested and banned from leaving the country. However, only 9 of the 69 received suspended prison sentences. The sentences for the remaining 60 suspects were never made public, and their faces were not disclosed. The case quickly vanished from Korean media, with many believing the government suppressed coverage to avoid anti-foreigner sentiment. Most Koreans, including myself, had never heard of it until recently. (This video below was the only news footage I could find related to this case.)

We had a detailed discussion on the outcomes of the meetings in the United States. It is telling that while our negotiators were reporting, Russia launched a new wave of “shahed” drones against Ukraine. The team reported on what was actually discussed in Florida – the key points, opportunities, and challenges. The most important task is to develop security guarantees in a way that brings us closer to ending the war. Security is the key to peace. The geopolitical situation has become more complicated due to the war against Iran, and unfortunately, this is emboldening Russia. But the fundamental circumstances have not changed. Russia continues this war and its destabilization of Europe, supports the Iranian regime with intelligence, and thereby prolongs the war in that region, while also preparing for new conflicts in the coming years. This threat of constant war across the map must be stopped. And this can only be done together – the United States, Europe, and other global actors. Meetings at the leadership level are needed to truly resolve these issues. I have instructed the team to continue working as actively as possible with partners so that diplomacy is substantive and that, in particular, humanitarian issues such as prisoner exchanges are resolved. I also instructed the team to brief our European and Canadian partners about the meetings in Florida.

The families’ feelings were far too deep to express fully in that short time. The family member concluded by saying, “The thoughts we couldn’t fully convey here today have been written in a letter, which we’ve already given to your staff.” Upon hearing this, President Trump looked around and asked, “Who received the letter?” He then instructed his national security staff, “Put that letter on the very top of my desk.” Turning to the family who had just finished speaking, he added with a touch of sarcasm, “Even if you give it to my staff, it may never reach my hands…” Later, the families received a personal reply from President Trump.😊
