This site is doing great stuff for fans and aspiring scouts. Fresh way to evaluate & helps understand how players that tilt the possession battle r analytically favored. @draftballr @databallr great job of deconstructing/defining the events that fluctuate +/- game to game.
draftballr@draftballr

The NCAA RAPM dashboard. This data is presented in collaboration with @ItsATerp_CBB from hoop-explorer. This card gives you an estimate on how a player impacts his lineup in these specific areas. It's a concrete way to break down the game. ORAPM is offensive impact, and the sub components are the 4 factors created by @DeanO_Lytics there. If you know how someone impacts 4 sub components, you have a good idea of how a player impacts the game on offense. The Shot Profile and Shot Making categories should be thought of as sub categories of EFG.

2 noticeable developments 1: Brunson-KAT pass&chase. If x1 chases over top, KAT uses reverse pivot to create gap for Brunson on the loop, while x5 has to retreat...subtle way to get him more 3s. 2: Short roll KAT unlocks Mikal/OG from corners way more than we've seen in 2 szns
Ariel@APachecoNBA

Here's almost 2 minutes of KAT-Brunson playing off each other last night. They created a bunch of good looks for one another and others, forced switches, and played with a synergy that was really encouraging to see

I wonder if theres untapped potential with brunson snaking and splitting more PNR's to add some variety. I know he gets blitzed a ton so its tough but the Knicks offense really struggles to find solutions vs physical teams 3/end

Sometimes he'll find quick deliveries to Hart like the one at the end but its pretty inconsistent. He oftentimes has to add extra dribbles, has to wait for teammates to relocate to make pass available, stuff like that. Its just rarely direct and timely 2/x

Usual excellent stuff by Shax. When its not a switch, what do u think about JB struggling sometimes to capitalize on rolls/slips in some of these games? Whether its Mitch/Hart/KAT, its hard to access the 4v3 and its tough to generate synergy in the halfcourt 1/x
Shax@ShaxNBA

Why isn't there Brunson-KAT synergy? Teams like to put their wings on KAT anticipating the action. Teams want to switch it as Houston does Can we post? Not if Hart is on the weak-side, or else teams will scram their bigs. This isn't a new strategy, it's well documented

@ley3016 @francistennn Second 3 peat MJ would be v similar to kawhi rn, Kobe from like 08-2011. My b i meant to clarify the exact seasons . But the larger point is that prime bron is leaps and bounds ahead of both. The reason we think bron > Kobe shud hold for bron > mj. Stylistically.

@jbenwalker_3 @francistennn how would mj look like kawhi if kawhi isn't half the playmaker mj was. late 00s kobe wasn't nearly the same athlete as mj. the best comp for mj would be shai's skillset plus ant's athleticism, which is an easy case for BITW.

if you’re going to be so ball-dominant, you have to exploit every offensive loophole available: it’s why the best offensive players are usually built out of ancillary skills, and the less resilient ones mostly just lean on the headline/dominant traits until the wheels fall off
𝐹𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑛@francistennn

price of being ball-dominant is accepting a narrower band of teambuilds, so either 7SOL Suns the roster and live with defensive volatility, or favor defense and live with offensive volatility—because in a capped sport a balanced team is purposely anomalous

@ley3016 @francistennn Yeah. i think mj today would look a LOT like kawhi or late 2000s Kobe, and brons better than those 2 comfortably so. + id like to think bron had way more decision making responsibility than Mj did in the triangle.

@francistennn ya & i think tactics being what they r now really elevate the talent threshold for being ball dominant, constant doubles, matchup zones, switch to ice, switch to flood/gap, remove baseline drives. faceguarding. makes me wonder how the 2010s stars wudve done with smarter defenses

@jbenwalker_3 and honestly, most non-LeBron ball-dominant stars lack resilience to a degree; how to shows just varies sometimes the individual stats dip, sometimes the environment collapses around them (old suns just being capable of a -10 to -20 defrtg in any series, for instance)

I think Books at his best when he’s a true 2, seems like he’s been playing out of position ever since Chris Paul left and it’s been a weird couple seasons for him. Prob better indv as a player than this list.
Josh Eberley 🇨🇦@JoshEberley

I don’t want to downplay how good Booker’s career has been because he’s had a great go here but all these guys are ahead legacy wise for one reason or another. If you want to talk about who is better in a one year context or something that’s different.

Wanted to get quick thoughts out on Mikal Bridges re: last 10-15 game slump. I don't think Knicks fans truly understand his quiet impact overall, despite the %s being down...and it feels like a career referendum after every few games. 1/x
