What’s this, I see? This is synergy, my friends.

The NCAA RAPM dashboard. This data is presented in collaboration with @ItsATerp_CBB from hoop-explorer. This card gives you an estimate on how a player impacts his lineup in these specific areas. It's a concrete way to break down the game. ORAPM is offensive impact, and the sub components are the 4 factors created by @DeanO_Lytics there. If you know how someone impacts 4 sub components, you have a good idea of how a player impacts the game on offense. The Shot Profile and Shot Making categories should be thought of as sub categories of EFG.

Here's almost 2 minutes of KAT-Brunson playing off each other last night. They created a bunch of good looks for one another and others, forced switches, and played with a synergy that was really encouraging to see

Why isn't there Brunson-KAT synergy? Teams like to put their wings on KAT anticipating the action. Teams want to switch it as Houston does Can we post? Not if Hart is on the weak-side, or else teams will scram their bigs. This isn't a new strategy, it's well documented

price of being ball-dominant is accepting a narrower band of teambuilds, so either 7SOL Suns the roster and live with defensive volatility, or favor defense and live with offensive volatility—because in a capped sport a balanced team is purposely anomalous

I don’t think people understand how impressive it is for the Knicks to have a top 5 defense with no true POA defender or rim protector in the starting 5. You would think that it’s not sustainable for a playoff push but elite rebounding is huge in the playoffs, and NYK has that.

I don’t want to downplay how good Booker’s career has been because he’s had a great go here but all these guys are ahead legacy wise for one reason or another. If you want to talk about who is better in a one year context or something that’s different.
