@Tron5pt0 @hollowearthterf You left out a lot of jobs that women held 100 years ago, including seamstress, clerks, farm workers, launderers, bookkeeper and secretary.

Incorrect. Roughly a hundred years ago, there were plenty of male teachers, so there were good ones. Females only had three jobs if they worked, secretary, nurse, and teacher. Highly competent women in today's aged would instead have been teachers. The current stock of female teachers are trash. You've said some of your family are teachers. They don't seem competent if they can't handle smart lads. Not only that schools have a no one left behind policy so sub90 iq browns and mid-wit girls could feel smart because Bored Billy had to stay in their class instead of taking whatever advanced classes he should be in.

@alphaman_111 Colored napkins are crappy. No one takes them bc they don’t do what they are supposed to do.

One simple psychological test you can try is what I call the “napkin effect.” Next time you host a gathering, whether at home or at work, pay attention to this. First, place a stack of ordinary napkins out for your guests. Nothing special, just the usual kind. Observe what happens. People will grab them freely, often taking several at once. There is no hesitation, no real care. They use them quickly, throw them away, and go back for more without thinking. Now try something slightly different another time. Put out napkins that are not necessarily more expensive, just visually different — maybe brighter, more elegant, or simply less common. Watch closely again. This time, behavior shifts. People tend to take one at a time. They use them more carefully. They even try to make them last longer. Nothing fundamentally changed about the napkins themselves — only the perception did. When something looks distinct or slightly elevated from the ordinary, people instinctively treat it with more value. It is the same dynamic you see in everyday life: presentation influences respect. Stand out — in the right way — and people will naturally treat you differently.

NEW: Tanner Horner, who pleaded guilty to murdering 7-year-old Athena Strand, seen on camera reacting to a woman telling him that a "seven-year-old kid" had been kidnapped. During the trial today, jurors broke down in tears after audio footage was played of Horner killing Athena after he told her to take off her shirt and said she was "really pretty." Athena repeatedly asked for her mother. "Horner is then heard asking Athena to remove her shirt, and there are several moments when she says "no" and asks for her mom. That was followed by repeated sounds of crying, screaming and banging," NBC reported. Jurors were also shown footage (below) of Horner being stopped while trying to deliver packages. He was told by a woman that the road was blocked off because a "seven-year-old kid" had been kidnapped. "Are you serious?" Horner said. Give this man the death penalty.

This post assumes that women who work can’t be active participants in community and that our work is meaningless. Both of these notions are as false as they are sexist. The idea here is that the only value we provide our communities is in domestic tasks, not professional ones. For the record, my work serves my community and my go to meal train dinner is roast chicken with cherry tomatoes and orzo. I usually bring breakfast food too, like bananas bread muffins, because most people don’t. I have almost know SAHMs in my community, and when my kids were born my home overflowed with food. Dinners cooked by women and men who work long hours in demanding DC jobs. But this isn’t about food ultimately, it’s about devaluing women’s dreams and ambitions beyond a casserole.
slimzim@jameszimmermann

A family from church has a boy in the hospital, my wife made them dinner to ease their suffering. I like being married to a woman who does stuff like this instead of typing numbers into a spreadsheet at a job she hates. Happy to work a little harder to make it happen.

@BryanPoeDiddle @JimVertuno One of the lawyers pushed the abandonment question and Mary Liz Eastland testified that yes, she did abandon the girls. I thought I saw that the Texas Rangers were bringing a criminal suit, but I could be wrong.

When are the abandonment and murder charges? I mean, Travis County has charged a mom with abandoning her daughter at a mall and with murder because the girl was struck and killed on Mopac (because a driver was following another vehicle too closely). What are the charges for abandoning 25 girls and 2 young counselors? We just heard Ms. Eastland admit to abandonment.

Beckworth pressing that anyone, from Juenke to Eastland, could have ordered the girls who died get to higher ground. "They died because no one told them to leave!" Juenke had saved a group by telling them to run to higher ground

My bro in suburban Denver says there's an absolute "plague" of kids on e-bikes and e-dirtbikes bombing around the streets and neighborhoods at high speeds. 7-14 year old boys equipped with capabilities they're not mature enough to handle safely, drive like banshees through yards and intersections and golf courses etc. I don't see too many of those here in small town TX and when I do they don't seem to be terrorizing anyone. Curious if this is happening where you live or not. Is this a big deal?

@dxfghj12 @CartoonsHateHer I agree with you but the article she is responding to did use the term “girlboss” that way, explicitly tying it to “fake email jobs,” so I think that’s why she included in this list.

@CartoonsHateHer I think I’ve only seen the term girlboss to mean the first two bullet points here not necessarily requiring the later 2 points. I think most people I’ve seen use it are implicitly implying that her job isn’t important to society, but not that it doesn’t provide company value.

We are plagued by the specter of the "girlboss," a powerful career woman with a nevertheless fake job which she snagged from a better-qualified man. So I ask: who exactly *are* these women? Link in replies.

@emilykmay You missed my point. His job is provide and protect. Not landscape. Her job is cook clean and childcare. So if he outsources his protection and provisions he isn't doing his job. Just like if a woman outsources her cooking cleaning and child caring.

"cheap immigrant labor to do their cooking, cleaning, and childcare" is a funny way of saying "it is not men's job to cook, clean, or do childcare." funny how men can go to work and no one yells at them for hiring a landscaper.
