Every app I've built started the same way, I looked for something that worked, couldn't find it, so I made it myself. Day job is HR. These 12 apps are what I build nights and weekends, no team, no funding, just problems I actually had. Some are for subscriptions I kept forgetting about. Some are for my dogs' vet records. @ridark_eth I keep a CLAUDE.md per app loaded with defensive scaffolding from when older models needed hand holding. Never thought to delete it and see if the model needs the crutch. Trying it on my next build. Curious if his caveat covers business rules too, or just model behavior stuff.

Most people spend months tuning their AI setup. The person who built the tool says throw it out twice a year. Boris Cherny created Claude Code inside Anthropic. His advice at Startup School: "delete your claude.md delete your skills delete your hooks then watch what the model does without them" His reason: those files exist to compensate for weaknesses in older models. The weaknesses moved. The files didn't. Anthropic applied it to themselves and cut Claude Code's system prompts by over 80%. One caveat he did not wave away: security rules, compliance, and destructive-command blockers are not prompts. Those stay. The instructions were scaffolding. Nobody tells you when the building is finished.

@attenisalluneed Classic build trap, but you walked away with two things, the marketing research and a tool other solo iOS founders might pay for. I've done this chasing ASO tips, spent more time building the tool than doing the actual research. Keeping it live or a one time build?

I didn’t want to pay $5 for a tool. So I spent hours building my own and around $10 on a domain and AI tokens. I wanted to go through every video on Superwall’s YouTube channel and understand how a first-time iOS founder should market an app. But extracting transcripts from an entire channel was more annoying than I expected. Most tools were paid, limited, or not really built for bulk transcripts. So I built one for myself. It worked. Then I thought maybe other people would find it useful too. So I bought a domain, cleaned it up and shipped it. Now I have all the transcripts I needed, a new product with almost no users and $10 spent on it Could have just paid the $5

@toastiwashere The snake oil part is you never actually own it unless you pay that buyout at the end. Fine if you genuinely upgrade every 3 years anyway, expensive if you forget and just let it roll.

Talk me out of leasing a new MacBook. 0% interest. Either trade it in and upgrade at 36 months or sell it myself after and just lease again. Feels like a no brainer. Also feels like I'm drinking snake oil.

@pj_stew @LaunchAIJam 0% commission and your own domain right up front is the real hook, most course platforms bury that until you're already locked in. Smart to lead with it. Does the localization cover RTL layout too, or just translated strings for now?

@snowprty Same here honestly. I keep telling myself I'll wait for gen 2 to let them work out the crease and battery life, but the second preorders open I know I'm caving. You going 256 or springing for more storage, foldables eat space fast with that extra screen.

@youngdestinya Solid breakdown. Worth noting the RAM's soldered and not upgradable later, so 32GB now isn't a nice-to-have if longevity's the goal, it's the only shot you get at that spec.

@cswvfw @yacineMTB Curious how you keep context in sync between the two, not just repo state but the reasoning trail. Handing off mid task tends to lose the why behind a decision even when the diff looks identical, that's usually where the second agent goes sideways for me.

Balances get entered manually in DayCast's net worth tracker, once a month, cash, brokerage, retirement, whatever you've got. More effort than linking a bank, but that's the tradeoff I picked.

@smithshelke D-U-N-S wait is brutal, no way around it. One thing worth flagging, reviews move App Store search ranking more than ad spend does early on. Getting past 10-15 real reviews before sinking time into TikTok content pays off more per hour.

Went on an adventure with my family today. Hiked up 1100 feet of elevation in a mile and a half (talk about a stair stepper) on our way to tour some caves. Shipped a new beta build to TestFlight at the same time via @ChatGPT Work. Bad ass. Beyond magical.

Close to how I'd build it, though I'd question the SCHD slice next to VTI, most of those dividend payers are already a big chunk of total market cap, so you're really just overweighting the same large caps twice under a different label. My own setup keeps it to VTI, VXUS and BND, simple enough that I never have to think about which line to rebalance.

9 days on a metadata only resubmission is well past normal, that tier of review is usually same day to 48 hours since nothing about the binary changed. Worth checking for a stuck processing flag on the build, and if that's clean, use the expedite request form instead of waiting it out.

@Archetapp I’ve been refreshing App Store Connect non stop. It’s been 9 days after a rejection for missing EULA links in the metadata description box. In total, 16 days of waiting for an update 😭

Been hearing rumors of slow wait times. First time in a while I’ve had to wait 2+ days for an update.

That's the fanless design doing its job, the Air relies purely on the aluminum body to dissipate heat, so it'll throttle before a Pro would under sustained heavy load. Held up fine for bursty work, throttling tends to show up more on long renders where the chassis never cools down.

@JCMAppStudio @rezoundous As a side note, I recently used it in some pretty harsh conditions... 95 degrees (in the shade), 100% humidity... It got hot. Really hot. And it churned through like nothing was wrong. My last Air was an Intel Air that would just grind to a halt in that environment.

I have a macbook air m4 16gb, but I find it reaching its limit regularly while working with Codex and Claude. If you were in my shoes, which setup would you pick? 1. VPS 2. Mac Mini 3. Macbook Pro

One trick worth adding, a post-build script that bumps the build number off the commit count instead of typing it by hand, kills the "forgot to bump it" rejected build problem for good. Also split out a CI workflow for unit tests on every PR so Xcode Cloud minutes go to archives only.
