@StuartHumphryes So beautiful Stuart, as is all your work. Thank you and take care
English

@TambaHojo @clairebubblepop I never really post , but @TambaHojo you really need to read before you respond. Claire had no choice in her partner dying after they had 4 children. Your remarks are truly despicable. She will be having a hard enough time without judgement from those such as you.
English

@clairebubblepop 4 kids by yourself but your choices are everyone else's fault 😂😂
English

I’m SICK of people attacking those on benefits. I’ll say one more time. I had a partner and a beautiful family. But sadly he died. I had 4 kids by myself. I didn’t have family to help step in. I ended on benefits because I couldn’t afford childcare. My kids were 3yr, 5yr, 6yr and 15yrs old. You’re only ever one tragedy away from ending up on benefits. STOP judging when you don’t know people’s story’s.
Also many people on benefits work. Why should they have to top up their wages? Shouldn’t companies pay liveable wages in the first place? It’s more like corporation subsidies imho. You’re blaming the wrong people. It’s the system that works against us not the people themselves.

@StuartHumphryes Amazing. Puts all other uniform to shame. Thanks Stuart as always
English

@StuartHumphryes Wonderful, as always Stuart! Thank you. Take care

@SooozeKerr @BBCHughPym You can also experience the opposite. My community based physio kept me mobile, alerted gp when specialist referral was appropriate and thus enable access orthopaedic surgeon and ultimately surgery. And is still around for support and "chivvying"
English

@BBCHughPym Physios are working as ‘Gate Keepers’ between GP & Specialist Referrals.
A few people that I know (me inc) have had Physios do everything they can not to refer. (Prob have incentives/Targets)
You have to self refer bk to physio 3mths later, so it goes on & on.
So frustrating.

@AlexM_Artist @jk_rowling In many places the very idea of a changing room would be a good start
English

@jk_rowling They still haven't explained why a doctor was in the nurses changing room.
Is this common? How many other doctors use the nurses changing rooms?
English

'However, if you're a female nurse who objects to the presence of the six-foot tall heterosexual male we've encouraged to use your changing room, call a lawyer. Your despair and distress are about to get a whole lot worse.'

@StuartHumphryes Morning Stuart
Your presence on X is one of the only reasons I still use it. You bring joy, colour and reflection to it. And to the lives of many of us. Thank you.
Any plans for another book?
English

Today's my 14th Anniversary on X. I joined in June 2011 (5 years after Twitter started), but don't worry - you haven't missed 14 years of autochrome enhancements, that hobby only began in 2020 during lockdown. Here's to the next 14 years! 🥳🍾🍾#MyXAnniversary

English

@StuartHumphryes Honest Stuart. Would not have posted it otherwise. It is obvious your work brings pleasure to many. I hope that brings you some warmth and solace when your health resources are depleted
English

@StuartHumphryes What a bargain! Your book, and work shared here, is often in my daily Gratitudes list! Brings me joy, and in the book I can seek an image to support joy. This is especially so when weather is gloomy.
Hope you feel better soon Stuart
English

Sorry I've not had much of an online presence recently - I've battled some health issues. But I thought you may like to know that my publisher is having a Spring Sale for UK & US customers and selling my book at half price - £22.50 (instead of £45).

@SigniusNetworks @premnsikka This is indeed the case. Shocking response from Barclays. Wonder if a corporation response or individual. Equally bad but if the former could have been done many times
English
@premnsikka Unless the rules changed you cannot not just rock up to a Food Bank for a load of free food, you have to have a referral.
English

Barclays Bank tells customers to contact food banks as IT glitch disruption enters third day.
It made £6.6bn pre-tax profit last year but can't produce a robust IT system.
I bet no one told directors to go to food banks.

@StuartHumphryes The admiration and affection with which you are held is very clear from the many replies you have received so far Stuart. I hope that brings you some warmth whilst you recuperate. Please take care and we all wish you well soon. May 2025 bring you joy.
English

I'm afraid I'm still not well enough to do my regular photo work - but thank you for your patience. My hands are still too shakey for anything requiring precision, so instead I hope you won't mind if each day over the next few weeks I re-tweet some of my older work instead. ♥️
BabelColour@StuartHumphryes
Here's a restoration from the opening months of the First World War in 1914. This autochrome was taken in France 106 years ago by Jean-Baptiste Tournassoud, showing Alpine infantry soldiers at their riverside bivouac. (This is original colour and hasn't been colourised).
English

@StuartHumphryes Oh I remember it well A rich voiceover went with it. Thanks for the reminder. We must be the same vintage!
English

@susie_dent It absolutely is Susie. Thanks for another new word
English

@Liz_ORiordan It is your choice. My mum couldn't decide whether to see my dad. Was only the day before f. she said I want to see him, 3wks post death. You do need to prepare yourself for the changes you will see of course. But you can do that.
English

Feeling a little bit broken. As many of you know Dad dropped dead 2 weeks ago when I was on holiday. I needed to see him to say goodbye in the chapel of rest. But the lovely funeral director has kindly advised that given the changes that happen with time, they only recommend I say goodbye to Dad with a closed coffin.
English

@StuartHumphryes Stuart you already know I am a n enormous fan and second the suggestion of a calendar ! I have your book which is fantastic. Possibly out of reach for some. A calendar could give lots of joy to many more folk.
With thanks and I am delighted you are on the mend. Take care
English

People sometimes imagine that I'm a professional photo restorer, but I'm not at all. I actually work for the local council. There's also an assumption that I have lots of fancy computers & high-end software, but I just use Adobe Photoshop 7 which is 22 years-old. I'm not an expert, or a professional, this is just a little hobby in my evenings to amuse you. It doesn't pay any bills, but it does make me happy. I hope it make you happy too.
English

@StuartHumphryes Get better soon Stuart. Lots of things laying people low, and you need to take care of yourself 😷
English

Sorry I've not been around to delight you with enhanced photography this week, but I've been mostly confined to my bed for the last 4 days. And I think I've slept 90 hours of that! I've had a pretty major relapse of long-term health issues and haven't been able to work on my computer. But do please bear with me, I'll be back online soon, I am sure. See you soon xxx ♥️
English

@StuartHumphryes I thoroughly recommend it as it is a stunning and uplifting book to have.

@drmarkporter The kindest people. I had a fall in the street in HCM city. Taxi driver went round me and stopped to help. Produced plasters and helped me up. A girl ran to a pharmacy and bought a first aid kit. Refuse any payment for it and waited whilst someone ran after my husband to come
