@jedmcpherson was the last backer onboard for The Grave and the creator I trusted most to give Wild Nature an early read when I was still figuring it out. Seriously, his back catalogue is one of the best I’ve seen: The Show, Cuddles, Transmissions… all brilliant.

Can I talk about the awesome comics community I’m part of? They’re out there doing awesome work and supporting each other, so this is my small way of doing the same. Let’s start with @FellHound_ , my first Twitter comics pal, who’s turning out great comics with humour and wit

@jonlockcomics I got rejected in may. Managed to pick up a cancellation and had my best sales ever. Haven’t heard back about October. Not confident though

Comic friends, could I ask what your experiences have been of applying to MCM events this year? Once again, Big Punch Studios have been rejected for the Comic Village/Artist Alley - and this is despite having exhibited as part of it since 2014 or so.

My number one comic con tip is don’t take it personally. People not buying your work is not a judgment on it’s quality. Making good comics and selling comics are two independent skills. (You can be good at selling and make comics obvs…)

@PossessionComic I can’t speak for everyone but I don’t mind if people stop and talk even if they don’t buy something.

@jedmcpherson Also many cons I pass up wonderful looking comics because I only have so much money to go around! Although it does make me guilty around vendors and I end up not wanting to stop and talk to them because it makes me feel like I'm rejecting them personally!

Also bear in mind that I am incredibly burnt out so take with a huge pinch of salt

Obviously your mileage may vary but I honestly think that hand selling books at cons isn’t a sustainable way to build a comics career.

@MikeGarley I’m sure you’ve already checked out some of these but here goes… Criminal is great, anything serial related (s town in particular), slow burn, crime town, Bundy ville, rabbit hole.

If anyone has any recommendations then I'd love to hear them - would especially love to hear of any good true crime podcasts.
