Great day today. $2,280 in revenue. 1 residential job rescheduled, but the city added a stump so it all evened out. The city even painted a smiley face for me on one of the stumps. Another big day scheduled tomorrow. 3 big days in a row in the winter?! Someone pinch me.

@CodeByNZ Muscle memory. I have terminal aliases for fetching, merging and pushing (right from the built in terminal). I use a GUI for committing though. Also, Cursor > VS Code

When VS Code already has the Source Control feature, why do developers still use Git commands in the terminal for pushing, committing, or cloning repositories? 👀

Outsourcing accounting earlier than a lot of my peers. I’m onboarding with a firm now and about to get a real handle on my numbers. I’ll share what I find out. I’ve been living very frugally, to the pain of the people around me. I honestly do not have a clean read on my margins yet. I have a suspicion that my P&L will make me want to drop out of college.

@TannerBuilds @JaredDHardin I’ve heard of several people changing away from Jobber, their reign is still strong but changing. How are you liking Wave, do you have any pain points or “I wish it did this” or “I wish it did this but better?”

Turn away good ones so I can focus on making this single opportunity great. - Only three things matter right now: 1. Sales 2. Sales 3. Sales - Keep a super niche/narrow service offering. Say no to opportunities within the business too. Do one thing really well. - Do NOT compete on price.

@Feezy_fitas How are you doing quotes? Do you visit in person? Are you using a system that lets him put down a deposit, or are you asking for cash or a check?

Lead said yes to roofline install. $1,000 at $10/ft (complex roofline) We require 50% deposit. Said he will only pay deposit in person once we’re there to do the job, then the remainder once we’re done, since he’s had people in the past run away with his deposit. Told him we don’t do that because we’ve also had people cancel day of after getting their lights ready and preparing our schedule. Told him we need deposit. He said we can’t work together then. Was I too harsh?

Met w/this property management firm earlier today. 30 mins after the mtg, I'm on-site at one of their HOAs for what will end up being a ~$100k quote. The PM then sent me an RFP for an even larger community he manages across town. This kind of thing will be my whole winter.
