@YuengP @EnvAgency It was odd how the flood water rose in 2 phases: 1st slow; 2nd rapid. Looking at the data from neighbouring gauges it appears to be a clever effect of the weir reducing the flood impact up to a limit. #probablyStuffHydrologistsKnow @NatResWales @EnvAgencyNW

The surprising life this story has taken on seems to have been a welcome distraction from current events. We only went out to paddle across the Meadows because @jeffpolton had been watching the @EnvAgency river gauges on the Dee and were there at the right time to help out.

Recorded numbers as a fraction of hospital capacity could work? But to be honest I’d rather explore diagnostics with a more positive vibe. E.g. trend changes.
