5 hours and 30 minutes after a 1.5 x-flare from the Sun, a magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck Vanuatu directly underneath Ambae Island where Manaro Voui volcano has been actively erupting since a M6.4 struck nearby back in February. Two things here. 1) the obvious solar flare-earthquake combination, and 2) the M7.3 EQ struck ~116 km below the surface, meaning the powerful pressure waves propagated through basically the entire magma filled "volcanic plumbing". These geologic structures are delicate in many ways, and this will most likely cause stronger volcanic activity from Manaro Voiu volcano in the days and weeks ahead.
