It’s your city, from the sidewalk to the skyline. The David Dinkins Municipal Building’s rooftop is open & free to everyone, starting this June.

@NYCMayor Hi from the West Village - re: the tragic pedestrian death just 2 days after your election here on 7th avenue south. Many multi year attempts from this neighborhood to protect these blocks where kids cross to schools. Please include in your plan. nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/11/06/wro…

For too long, critical street safety projects have been delayed or shelved because of political considerations and backroom deals rather than the needs of New Yorkers. Those days are over. New Yorkers deserve to be safe no matter how they commute — whether they bike, walk, or drive. That's why my Administration is committing to restarting construction of parking-protected bike lanes on McGuinness Boulevard and completing its redesign.

@dmtrubman Yes confirming the Freemasons - I had an office in there once and there were mahogany rooms with tuxedoed Freemasons meeting on floors with banal 80s interior design (teal, thin carpeting). They need to be able to drive right up to the building, you see.

I would love to see some of Mamdani's transition committees put forth a plan on how to get the remaining surface parking lots in Midtown developed in offices and/or residences. Crazy so many of these still exist! Wasn't always like this. 6th Ave and 24th St ~1940➡️ Yesterday

I can't tell you how many interviews I've done where I've been asked: If Trump's policies are so problematic, why are U.S. stocks rising so rapidly. A bit of international context illustrates the real issue here. U.S. stocks have dramatically underperformed other advanced economies.

Pretty striking that we’re “giving up” hundreds of thousands of parking spaces to make room for larger and more-dangerous cars while refusing to do a fraction of that to improve safety for kids and families. (9.3% of NYC’s 3 million parking spaces is more than a quarter million (250,000) spaces.)
Transportation Alternatives@TransAlt

Can't find parking? Blame larger cars. "Expanding the average car length from 5 meters (16.4 feet) to 5.5 meters (18 feet) decreases street parking spots by 9.3%... The growing share of larger vehicles has caused many on-street parking spots to effectively disappear."

@teachthemx3 I moved 4x in 6 years so had to test in every time so I got to experience the shift and found the teachers in g&t taught less, expected self direction. So not a fan for how the US does this.

@jenvandermeer What did your program look like? What did you enjoy about it? In my experience, our local GT programs have not been that beneficial.
