ALERT: Man searching for “treasure” finds a pipe bomb and does "what a stupid person would have done," running it to shore at a lake in Denton, Texas. Mike Reiter was using a metal detector to sift through the water at Lake Lewisville when it started buzzing like crazy. Reiter then picked up an object he initially thought was a fence post cap, but upon further inspection, he recognized the object as a pipe bomb. “Every movie I've ever seen had a pipe bomb… That's what a pipe bomb looks like.” Reiter then picked up the bomb and carried it to the shore, tripping in the process. Denton Police Department's bomb squad verified the object was a pipe bomb and safely neutralized it. Police say a growing illegal trend of 'blast fishing', using explosives to kill fish, was the most likely culprit, but have yet to identify the individual who put it there. Reiter said, "A lot of people were like, ‘Oh, you're a hero.’ No, no, no, no. Every single person I talked to said they would not have done what I did. That doesn't make me a hero. It makes me an idiot."
