since people are DMing me for this, this is the samira fic i was talking about. it's frank/samira (which is not my usual ship at all) but her samira is fucking perfect and at one point imagines langdon with a feeding tube that's feeding him constant praise archiveofourown.org/works/81451361…

ah yes, bc nuance and personalization famously ruin smut. what really gets people going is technical sex that the person writing has no horny interest in. the 24/7 neurodivergent olympic games happening on this app will never not be funny
🤖🍬 luka 🎸🤖@glorysteadynene

ace people who have absolutely zero interest in sex are so good at nsfw fanfic because they can view sex at a purely artistic and technical level, rather than putting in their own nuances and biases. this is my theory. a porn theory

I came across a theory that AI is starting to make more mistakes because the internet is increasingly polluted with AI slop. The idea of AI cannibalising itself into obscurity is one of my favourite things ever. I hope it is true and I hope it becomes impossible to fix.

@ftmetalhead you answer it as false, because the whole statement is not true. we're losing the plot here people.

@_midori_me_ @WhyVeeES I'm curious, did you used to see scenes in your head or have you always written from words/concepts? I tend to think of 'I write the movie in my head' as a beginner approach to writing that people eventually grow out of if they read/write widely enough

@WhyVeeES I don’t have images in my head. I only have the words & concepts. When I write I’m not describing a scene I’m seeing I’m writing down the words that occur to me. So I guess I’m automatically cheating since I’m not translating except concepts to words.

Being able to turn those images in your head into words is the point of being a writer. If you’re prompting AI to do that for you then what are you really doing as a ‘writer’?

@yourmombeats @ClTYOFMON thank you for saying this because there's an alarming amount of 'writing IS describing the movie in your head!' and like no baby if that's all you're doing that's screenwriting

@ClTYOFMON Well, also, writing is not purely descriptive. It also involves making decisions about how to characterize what's going on, when to be literally, and when to be abstract, when to shift frame of reference. What is actually happening is less important than how it's told

so tired of the term 'writer' being co-opted by people who fantasize little movies in their head and have no actual respect (or talent) for writing as a craft. you people aren't writers. you're daydreamers who don't have access to any other storytelling medium. enough.

@TheLincoln been saying this. writing (in the most utilitarian sense of the word) is something we're all taught to do. there's like zero logistical unfamiliarity or barrier to entry. that's why it's so common for people who daydream but have no actual interest in words to reach for it

@jeffery_haskell @BookSpotlight i think the sad part is they do sell. not to a particularly literary readership obviously but to the swarm of genre readers consuming the same 5 soulless tropes costumed in rinse and repeat characters, they sell.

@BookSpotlight They want to direct movies, not write books. I've yet to see any books by these kinds of "writers" written by AI or otherwise, actually sell.

@BookSpotlight calling it right now, some buzzy new term's going to be coined for people who do this that's going to marketed as separate from 'writer' in an attempt to normalize and commercialize it. just watch. 'influencer' except for writing. some bullshit like 'aiuthor'
