@Daniel_Rubino I remember this like it was yesterday! It's hard not to miss the days when Microsoft was taking massive, ambitious swings in the consumer space. Feels like yesterday. Build 2014/2015 was peak Microsoft consumer.

Hard to believe it’s been exactly 11 years since Build 2015. 🤯 I remember our coverage being a total whirlwind as Microsoft was rapid-firing Windows 10 Mobile features so fast we could barely keep up. But then they showed off Continuum, and for a second, the room went silent. It felt like a genuine game-changer. The "PC in your pocket" dream was finally happening. Plug your phone into a dock and boom: a full desktop UI. It was years ahead of its time, yet it never truly caught on. Even today, Samsung has a dedicated cult following for DeX, but they still struggle to explain to the average person why they need it. Being "first" in tech is rarely enough if the ecosystem isn't ready to follow. Still, I’ll always have a soft spot for that Lumia 950 era and the absolute ambition behind it. F*ck it. This is getting ridiculous! I've just now increased my position in $FIG by 50%. With design and code merging, it won't matter what the starting point is. Many will prefer creating in the canvas over building in the CLI. AI will code it in the background regardless.

There is zero chance that Tim Cook could have ever started Apple the way that Steve Jobs did. But I also believe there is very little chance Steve Jobs would have grown Apple to the same massive size Tim Cook did. Tim took the underlying business that Jobs created and expanded it to a massive ecosystem of products, software, and services, all working in concert, while expertly navigating politics, building supply chains, and vertically integrating key components. Apple is the result of two leaders who each played their part as well as they could.

Renewed hardware engineering focus suits Apple. Now CEO John Ternus has 25 years experience doing this.
