@SalimLala Trackability definitely can be an issue. Just like in the paravisceral segment, inflation of a balloon proximally can help “bounce” sheath and stents through a sharp turn. I believe this was a 12 mm Charger as a buddy but in aorta we use Coda.

@jessechait Yes good point; the internal iliac was rather large and we used an 11mm VBX but if we had issues with the 12F we were ready to downsize and use an 8L VBX. Constant through and through tension (a lot of it!) to help deflect the dilator of 12F sheath down to advance was key!

Ipsilateral IBE from single groin access under local for rupture AAA from type 1b endoleak from previous EVAR. The 12F dry seal sheath makes that hair pin turn somehow and allows for delivery of the internal iliac stent; but wow the sheath gets beat up. Patient did well!

@RosenelliEM @NaanDerthaal Except placement is often falsely advertised as match rate for DO schools. “Placement” is not a valuable metric for prospective medical students to evaluate schools, especially if that includes research years that were not desired at the time of residency application submission.

@NaanDerthaal Schools are already required to report & post their overall placement rate (not match rate) over the last few years. It is a COCA requirement currently. Here is LECOMs. We usually can get every applicant a spot, which is awesome. They are great applicants lecom.edu/about/accredit…

@Dr_Bowser We recently started using the 480 cm length 0.018 NovaGold endoscopy wire for transradial lower extremity interventions to support long shaft DCBs, it’s a great option

We’re vascular surgeons. We will dig out two of the only 450 length wires out of a random drawer in the GI lab to do a radial access TBE.

No I’m sorry 3 years is way too long for a fellowship. 6 months max. You can learn 99% of the job in 6 months. Everything else goes to Mayo.

Fantastic opportunity for medical students interested in vascular surgery. I got a lot out of the course in terms of deciding on a career path, applications/interviews, and was able to meet PDs as well as future coapplicants/colleagues.

Calling all medical students to the Introduction to Academic Vascular Surgery conference 10/19-10/21/23! Abstract submission deadline 8/8/23. Great opportunity to meet faculty, learn skills to be a great researcher and surgeon, and present your work! @FutureVascSurgn @VascularSVS

@DavidBroderDO Inherent issue is DO schools like @NYITCOMDO generally do not have enough spots at high quality rotations & don’t support students who wish to rotate elsewhere. I faced extraordinary time & financial barriers @NYITCOMDO despite $60k+ tuition within large metro area.
