We have been pleading with the ACS to take a stronger stance on reimbursement for decades. Independent surgical practices have taken it on the chin. In response, many surgeons are now employed to make a decent income. The latest change is now a reduction in RVUs. Employed surgeons usually have compensation calculated in part on productivity measured by RVUs. This includes our academic colleagues. Now the easily predictable moment has come. There was really no refuge. There was just a temporary reprieve why the corral was built and the gates were closed. Professional societies are now finally waking up to the fact that we are all in the same boat and have been all along. Nice to see them finally join the fight.

This is a call to action. facs.org/advocacy/regul…

This morning we were honored to welcome Adam Beck, M.D., FACS, for his insightful guest lecture, “Modern Strategies for SCI Prevention After Aortic Repair: Are We Winning the Battle?” His presentation was part of our Grand Rounds lectureship series. #UTSWSurgery #UTSW
