The world is using more US Dollars than ever: Offshore US Dollar deposits held in banks outside the US are up to a record ~$14.5 trillion. This is +220% more than the ~$4.5 trillion held at the beginning of the century. By comparison, only ~$3.5 trillion worth of euros are held in offshore banks, outside the Eurozone. And, the Fed and domestic commercial banks hold over $19.0 trillion. This means offshore US Dollar deposits are now equivalent to~43% of US domestic bank deposits, with no other currency coming close to this percentage. Global demand for USD is incredibly high.

The United States is and will remain Germany‘s most important partner in the North Atlantic Alliance. We share a common goal: Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

@SlawomirDebski Polish heads of state have generally been alarmists. But Tusk takes the cake. His country hosts ~10,000 US servicemen, is the headquarters for V Corps, has an Aegis system, two U.S. patriot batteries on rotation, and yet questions our credibility? Poland can defend themselves.

There is a certain performative quality to this kind of alarmism. If the Prime Minister genuinely believes that Russia may attack a NATO member “within months”, then the appropriate response would not be another dramatic interview with the Financial Times. It would be the immediate reintroduction of universal conscription in Poland, a comprehensive mobilisation of the state, and perhaps a plane to Washington to speak directly with President Trump. That, after all, is what statesmen do when they believe war is approaching. Instead, we get rhetoric calibrated less for serious strategic conversation than for domestic political effect: to frighten the public, to dramatise the moment, and to present oneself as the lonely guardian of national survival. The problem is that such rhetoric also has consequences abroad. If one repeatedly turns alliance management into public theatre, one should not be surprised when serious people in Washington conclude that there is little point in holding serious conversations. On the substance - the probability of a Russian attack on a NATO member “within months” is close to zero. So long as Russia remains engaged in a full-scale war against Ukraine, it has neither the political nor the military freedom to open a second front against the Alliance. Russia is dangerous, brutal and revisionist. But it is not omnipotent. So the real question is not whether Moscow is preparing to invade NATO next month. The real question is why the Polish Prime Minister has chosen to speak as if it were.
Financial Times@FT

Donald Tusk told the FT that Europe’s ‘biggest, most important question is if the United States is ready to be as loyal as it is described in our [Nato] treaties,’ as he warned that Russia could attack an alliance member in ‘months’. ft.trib.al/ckvXgTb

For the first time in decades, three aircraft carriers are operating in the Middle East at the same time. Accompanied by their carrier air wings, the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) and USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) include over 200 aircraft and 15,000 Sailors and Marines.

🔥Prince Reza Pahlavi just dropped a masterclass response🔥 German journalist tries to trap him:
“Are you an Israeli asset?” Prince Reza fires back without hesitation: “Of course not… but I am a friend to Israelis and the Jews.” Then he schools everyone: After reminding them about Cyrus the Great, he added:
“In modern history, Iran is the only country that harbored Jews escaping Hitler and his regime.” Mic. Dropped.🎤 It’s actually wild that a German journalist feels comfortable throwing shade on Jews and Israel. Prince Reza Pahlavi stays classy, stays truthful, and stays based.

🇩🇪🇪🇺 Germany just published its first-ever standalone military strategy. The goal: 460,000 combat-ready personnel, the strongest conventional army in Europe, and a three-phase build-up running to 2039. Europeans must shoulder their own conventional defence, and Germany wants to be at the centre of that effort. Zeitenwende is becoming real.

@crsanchezx This is nonsense. Your map only shows commuter rail, not logistics/industrial rail. USA still has a comparable rail network to China, which is 30% larger than Europe. @crsanchezx is only seeing a fraction of our total rail lines. Further, we jumped to airports before Europeans.

All the predictions about "America is becoming weaker, we're entering the era of mulitpolarity" have not factored in: - US now a leading energy superpower - US tech is inventing the future and everybody wants to be part of it - US keeps its role as guardian of regional orders
Guy Laron@guy_laron

Most of the pundits are unable to factor in energy. This crisis is different than any other in the last 50 years bc this time the U.S. is not an energy importer. Not only is it a net exporter, but the U.S. is an energy superpower. It *gains* from the conflict.

@Arrogance_0024 Kaja Kallas is so compelling that Washington just avoids her altogether - dealing directly with state-level foreign ministers. If she were appointed as Secretary General of NATO (impossible since the position requires American approval), she would have been less effective.

Mark Rutte was chosen for Secretary General of NATO not because he is fluent in English, but because he is fluent in submissiveness. Kaja Kallas was obviously unfit for this.

@ElliotKaufman6 While that may be true, he serves at the courtesy of the President and under the supervision of the Secretary of State. If his views were counterproductive, he would be recalled. His service is clearly valuable even if the public may not see that value play out in the short term.

@ElliotKaufman6 @ElliotKaufman6 These allegations against our ambassador to Türkiye are simply untrue. Your willingness to jump to such extremes suggests more about your allegiance to Israel than to USA. If you are an American citizen, you should support American policy objectives, not Israeli.

In 30 minutes, Amb. Barrack managed to counsel the Middle East against democracy, push cooperation with Hezbollah, mock the Lebanon cease-fire, call to include Iran in Lebanon talks, play down Turkey’s Russian air defenses and threaten Israel on Turkey’s behalf. WSJ editorial:
