I recently received a DM where the person asked for wine farm recommendations when visiting Stellenbosch.
See my recommendation below 👇🏼
Firstly, there are obviously 100's of different options, I can't recommend every single farm.
The one thing I feel the @StellWineRoute is missing on the marketing end, is the focus on micro routes within the area. Stellenbosch is a massive wine region and it consists out of many micro climates and clusters of farms. For someone who comes from Gauteng or London, it can be a daunting task to simply "go for a wine tasting in Stellies".
So my proposal to @StellWineRoute would be (and please accept my apologies of you already have this in place),is to do more segmentation of the various farms. It would be far easier for tourists to make a decision on where they'd like to go. Roll out maps showing these segments and add road signs as well.
In any event, below are the three "micro wine routes" I created as options for this tourist:
Option 1 (the views on this route are epic)
- Uva Mira
- Hidden Valley
- Ernie Els
Option 2 (these farms are all on the Helshoogte pass between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek)
- Oldenburg (a bit of drive out of Stellies and also usually a longer tasting)
- Tokara
- Delaire Graff (if there is time left)
Option 3 (Probably the most peaceful route)
- Jordan
- DeMorgenzon
- Super Single Vineyards (check out their lavender as well!)

FIRST LOOK👀 at what the new Cape Winelands Airport is going to look like, and can I say, WOW!
Growthpoint, the largest listed landlord in South Africa, has officially committed to supporting this project. They will co-invest to develop the Cape Winelands Airport precinct.
This airport is privately owned and situated on an existing airfield in Fisantekraal. It is expected to generate 35,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The project involves an anticipated initial investment of around R8 billion in Cape Town, covering the terminal buildings, runway, and a 450-hectare developable estate.
Growthpoint will manage the logistics, commercial, and hospitality developments - excluding the airport terminal buildings. They also hold the right of first refusal to co-invest in future developments.
Construction of the Cape Winelands Airport might begin in early 2026, subject to approval of the Environmental Impact Assessment. The airport aims to be operational by 2028 and is projected to handle over five million passengers annually by 2050.
