@DrCalumMiller Lucky if you are consulted. In hospital in 2021 after quite a serious stroke, I discovered a DNR on my file quite by accident: spotted a red bordered document & asked “what’s that?, to be told, sheepishly, that it was a DNR of which neither I nor next of kin had any knowledge.

@BenAllenGP We hold regular specialist training sessions, have run twinning too where GPs spend half a day with consultants and vice versa, A&G and experimenting with MDT’s too.

Has anyone in Primary or Secondary care got ideas of how we can blur the relationship boundaries between us? Despite the busyness, share challenges, empathise, understand, co-create solutions? There'd be many quick wins if some of us did this. How could it be done practically?

My car broke down last year - the clutch gave out. I tried passing a law making it illegal for my car to stop working, tried suing it, tried arresting it and tried sacking it. Turned out that I needed to spend money maintaining and fixing it. Who knew...

Yesterday I contacted a GP surgery with concern about a relative. Today, on the busiest day, that GP went out of his way to do a home visit and help stop a situation escalating. We are often quick to criticise but the NHS is full of brilliant people doing their best for patients.
