Python in Excel is now a thing! Python is now a peer of the Excel formula language and you can mix both languages seamlessly in the Excel grid. Python runs on Azure and is powered by the @anacondainc Python distribution. This was a multi-year collaboration between the Python team in Developer Division and the Excel team. It was a privilege of a lifetime to work daily with @gvanrossum @ahejlsberg @keyurp32 @jjmcdaid @zooba @iritkatriel @oterocarlos and a few other folks who don't use this site. techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/excel-blog/…

I'm excited to announce that the latest set of Excel functions are generally available. 🎉 They simplify common text manipulation tasks and unlock dynamic array scenarios. TEXTBEFORE/AFTER, TEXTSPLIT, EXPAND, TAKE, DROP, V/HSTACK, CHOOSEROWS/COLS, TOROW/COL and WRAPROWS/COLS.

@Mark_Baker Hmm, I’ll get the docs fixed. That was actually a late breaking change, we realized the inconsistency and then aligned the functions after initial release.

So the documentation for TEXTSPLIT() indicates that it can accept an array of delimiters, and will split on any of them. Glad that I thought to double-check the logic for TEXTBEFORE() and TEXTAFTER(): it isn't documented for them, but they also allow an array of delimiters

The new TEXTBEFORE() and TEXTAFTER() functions have now been implemented for PhpSpreadsheet, and I plan to work on TEXTSPLIT() over the weekend

@jjmcdaid “Excel returns a #N/A error if text_before isn’t contained in input_text.” - That’s a shame. Text.BeforeDelimiter in #PowerQuery just returns the whole text if the delimiter isn’t found. Don’t require use of IFERROR here. Require FIND if they want to test for existence.

@ijgore Semi annual enterprise forks every 6 months. LAMBDA didn't make the most recent train but it should be in the next. There is also a monthly enterprise channel that will get it sooner.

@jjmcdaid Any idea when LAMBDA will be coming to the Enterprise channels? Or the navigation pane?

With this interview, I'm completing my final day here at @AnandTech. It's been a great 10 years working with the team, with @ryansmithAT, @anandshimpi, @bretthowse, @gavbon86 + all. My next venture will be in tech - hope to give more information next week. I'm not going far! 😎🤘

On the back of $INTC @Intel's Investor Meeting yesterday, @IanCutress sat down with Dr. Ann Kelleher, EVP and GM of Intel's Technology Development, to find out how Intel will execute, what the company learned from 10nm, and why components research matters trib.al/bXg9X3Z

@navi_sv @ehansalytics Great question. Lambdas can have multiple variables. This one is simple, and it just has one which is named X. A more complex lambda could have many more, and the author could provide meaningful names to each to improve readability.

🆕Today we rolled out lambda function support to Excel users on the current channel. If you use dynamic arrays, I'd recommend starting with BYROW and BYCOL which can be used to aggregate rows/columns and spill the results. techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/excel-blog/…

@SteveDX_ We have a Monthly Enterprise Channel (MEC), which is a little delayed from the Current Channel (CC) that gets monthly drops. If you are on MEC, you'll need to wait a little long. That could be the next drop, but it could be delayed if we find a bug we want to address before MEC.

@MMolyneaux Did you inquire about sign on bonus before you turned them away? Also, worth checking if you can refer yourself and pocket the referral bonus too. :)

If you have not changed your burrs or cleaned your coffee grinder in the last 4 months - go do so. Put it on your list and get it done. I just replaced my burrs after 4 years and my coffee tastes like coffee again. Its like a $40 part.
